= Small part of the earth, = one-hundredth (of that part), = art of protecting, = uncontrollable, = arrogance like fire, = agitated, = small king, = praises, = honoured ones, = we do not consider, = once, = he who, = kindhearted, = for a handfull of dry puffed rice, = to the sage Kuchela, = Status of Kubera, = gave, = only to salute that lord, = we decided. Sri Vedanta Deshika illustrates why we should pray to Lord Krishna. We do not bother uncontrollable kings, who are very arrogant (like fire), due to the power of ruling a bit of the earth. We (the learned one) will praise only that god, who gave the status of Kubera, the lord of wealth, to the sage Kuchela, in exchange for just one handful of aval. Those days scholars like to honour only the gods by praising them. Although we pray to Krishna only for moksha, worldly riches can be attained automatically by worshipping him.
