    The neighbors group will meet with the Department of Public Works to discuss the North Street reconstruction project. The meeting will take place on June 25th at 7pm in City Hall. Residents are asked to submit any remaining questions they have about the project to the neighbors group by June 11th so they can be addressed at the meeting. While the group has no legal power to change the DPW's plans, they hope continued discussions will allow for modifications that benefit all parties.

    Dear North Street Neighbor: Good News! The Mayor has arranged for the North Street area residents to meet with the DPW on Monday, June 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Hearing Room, 2nd floor of City Hall. The meeting is scheduled from 7 p.m. 8:30 p.m. You will need to use the back door to access the City Hall after hours. At the request of Mayor Narkewicz, the DPW has written a response to our letter. Their response can be seen at http://www.scribd.com/doc/95581916/DPW-Responds-to-Petition-on-NorthStreet-Reconstruction-05-24-2012 Please note the section on the cost to provide concrete sidewalks versus bituminous sidewalks: Surprisingly, the bid price for concrete sidewalk is reasonably competitive with bituminous. About 3,600 LF of bituminous sidewalk is proposed. Upgrading to concrete would be a premium of about $7,000. In order to save time and help us stay focused, we will submit our questions to the DPW prior to the meeting. If you have any remaining questions or comments, please let us know as soon as possible but no later than Monday, June 11th. While we are aware that we have no legal recourse to make them alter their plans, we hope that our persistent and persuasive approach will help them modify some of them.
