ABSTRACT

Population growth of two species is affected by each other, in relation to resource consumption. Lemna sp. and Spirodela sp. are of different species having the same needs. They compete for the resources when they are placed in the same place. The response of the two species, in terms of, change in population growth was observed by preparing experimental cultures. Lemna showed logistic growth in all graphs, similar to Spirodela sp. except for having an exponential growth when mixed with Lemna in soil+tap medium. Thus, Lemna is a better intraspecific competitor and Spirodela, a better interspecific competitor.
