Unit 6

The Art Of the Cell Cycle

Anastasios-Odyssefs Ntinopoulos

Unit 6: Commission

For this unit we had to create a 3D animation. We had to choose through some scientific scenarios. I chose the scenario of The Cell Cycle and elaborated on the stage of Interphase. The Cell Cycle was the scenario that intrigued me the most. For the completion of my animation the following software was used: Adobe Photoshop, Maya 2011, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator.

Influences

I was widely influenced from other animation videos with scientific subject. The kids animation Magic School bus from the past that was intended for children with the purpose to educate them had very nice environments and through their journeys to the body and to strange places associated with the science and with organisms influenced me. Through research for cell reference pictures I came up with microorganisms that were really bright and vivid. This influenced me a lot and led me to the concept of my animation. Furthermore I was influenced from educational purposed videos with the theme of microorganisms and something similar visually to what I was going to do. My aim through experimentation was to produce something simple and effective.

Target Audience

My target audience is young educated adults starting from the age of 14 years and older. My animation can be better understand by people who have previously education on the subject of the Cell Cycle or any background of biology or science. I wanted to approach people who have already previously knowledge or people young enough to be able to understand the Cell Cycle and the stage of Interphase.
