PREFACE

The purpose of this report is to explain what I did and learned during my internship period with the WINNER INDUSTRIES LTD. The report focuses primarily on the assignments handled, working environment, successes and shortcomings that the intern did encounter when handling various tasks assigned to me by the supervisor. Because the various parts of the report reflect the interns shortcomings, successes, observations and comments, it would be imperative that the recommendations are also given. Therefore the report gives a number of comments and recommendations on the internship program. It is hoped that this report would serve as a cardinal vehicle to the improvement of theInternship program.

INTRODUCTION: COMPANY PROFILE The origin of the Winner industries dates back to 1988, when Mr.TajmaulHussain started an indenting house to market the engineering products to the global market.

THE COMPANY

Winner industry was established in the year 1988, on September 5th at Chennai (Tamilnadu,India) as Prince industry. It begun its activities by distributing small motor filters. Then on April 5th 1990 the company name was changed to Winner industries and started to expand its business by manufacturing and supplying a wide assortment of Auto components,Impellers, and Washers. The components which are produced by Winner industry are usually used for diverse purpose in railways , engineering , automobiles and other related industries.The industry is located at Saidapet with the space of 3,500 square feet and running the business successfully by employing 55 employees. The Winner industry has been devolepedfurther by the guidance of Mr.AhamadHussain son of Mr.TajmaullHussain since from the year 2000. As per the current financial position and the trade condition of winner industry, the Annual turnover is upto US$ 0.25 Million(or up to rs.1 Crore) approximately. Manufacturing Facility Winner industry have a state-of-the-art infrastructure to conduct an easy, comfortable and hassle-free production of their Auto Components, Impellers and Washers. Owing to thesophisticated infrastructure, Winner indusry is capable of providing superior quality components to their esteemed clients within the stipulated time frame. For the smooth operation of all their business activities, they have segregated their large infrastructural unit into different departments. All departments work in close co-ordination in order to provide an exclusive collection as per the set industry standards. Furthermore, the advanced manufacturing unit is equipped with all the latest machines and tools that empower them to attain consistent quality standards.Their infrastructure is further segregated into different sub-departments like manufacturing, quality testing, R&D and warehousing & packaging. They have sophisticated manufacturing facility that is spread over an area of 3,500 square feet and is well-equipped with all the latest machines. All these machines are updated regularly as per the latest market trends. Additionally, they give special attention to manage all their machines so as to uphold their production capacity and thereby, meet the urgent and bulk orders quickly. H.R PROCESS IN WINNER INDUSTRY: Since , Winner industry is a production company the recruitment is not done in a frequent manner, and the selection of the employees is done by the reference process. The majority of the employees were recruit for the production and production related work ,the employee should excel in technical knowledge and that will be the maximum qualification which is expected by the H.R and as well as by the industry. The interview process is not much complicated when compared to other BPOS or Consultancy or any other organization. But Winner industry is not compromising in the technical knowledge, one should be excellent in technical aspects to became an employee of Winner industry. Training makes an employee to work more effectively and efficiently which increases the production. Training for the employees in Winner industry is more effective, they concentrate more on training, the new recruited employees were well trained by the trainer and they were made to sit near the Tenure employees for budding and they observe from them like, how to handle the machine safely, time management, produce the components by avoiding the wastage.

Other than these duties the major work of the H.R in winner industry is managing the pay roll process for the employees. Performance appraisal is done only based on the quality parameters that is implemented on production and not on any other basis.

As Winner industry is a manufacturing company with the employees of 55 which concentrate more on production and supply the duty of H.R is very limited.

Production is an organised process of manufacturing/ producing goods and services through the use of input resources of men, material, money, machines, minutes, and methods,

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT IN WINNER INDUSTRY: Winner industry is a manufacturing based company and it is doing a great job and a well organised process of production . The production department in

winner industry includes sub-departments like Purchase department, store department, and quality department.

SAFETY MEASURES FOLLOWED IN WINNER INDUSTRY FOR THE WELFARE OE EMPLOYEES: The ventilation and illumination provided by the winner industry were all satisfied by the employees.

As the winner industry is a manufacturing company the employed employeeswer all males, so that they are capable of handling the materials with out causing any injurious at the time of production.

First aid boxes were kept with all the basic medicines in three places ,to make use of it at the time of need by the employees.

Prevention of fire like fire extinguishers, sand and water buckets and water sprinklers were located in appropriate places like store room, ware house, and manufacturing place.

Goggles were provided to the workers who engaged in manufacturing work to avoid injuries to the eyes of the workers.

Drinking water provided by the winner industry to their workers is very clean and hygienic to avoid heakth hazardous.

The latrines and urinals were maintained in a neat and clean condition in winner industry.

The food provided in canteen by the winner industry to their worker is prepared in a hygienic manner and the prices are reasonable and affordable by the workers.

The machines are inspected regularly so that accidents are avoided to the workers at the time of manufacturing.

By following the above safety measures by winner industry the workers feel very secure and safe and also the job satisfaction is more by the workers.

STORE KEEPING AND WAREHOUSING DEPARTMENT:

Store keeping is a service function which deals with the physical storage of goods under the custodianship of a respective person is called store keeper or store controller. Un worked materials or raw materials are usually referred as stores and the place where they are kept is known as stores room. Warehouse performs activities concerning receipt , packaging, and packing, despatch of finished goods to different destinations and handling of connected papers and documents.

WORK CARRIED OUT IN THESE DEPARTMENTS AT WINNER INDUSTRY:

After the procurement of raw materials by the purchase department it is catageorised according to their nature and stored in the store room in winner industry.

As winner is manufacturing auto components, washers , and impellers, various types of raw materials are required and after the usage of raw materials, the excess materials are stored in the storing room. Based on the size and shape of the materials the raw materials are stored in the store room.

In winner industry store room , for easy identification of the raw materials by the employees during the time of handling the name of the material has been displayed in block letters below the raw materials where it has been arranged.

As the raw materials used in the production process at winner industrys are non perishable materials, there is no any specific design in the store room construction.

Cranes and forklift truks are used to handle materials with in the store room and production department for easy handling by the workers.

When speaking about the warehousing department, the finished goods are stored in the warehouse at winner industry,

According to the delivery time and date the finished products are arranged in the warehouse to avoid clumpsiness and to save the products from scratches and damages.

Packaging and labelling is done in warehousing by the workers in winner industry, and the packaging is done in such a way that it maintained in a proper way for long time with out any damage to the finished goods ,till it get delivered to the appropriate clients. The components are arranged in a systematic order in the warehouse at winner industry, this is done because for the quick and easy location at the time of issue to the clients.

Authorised persons are only allowed inside the store room and warehouse,to avoid unnecessary problems like creating damage to the finished goods which is ready for the delivery.

The warehouse is located in such a way that it is very easy to carry the finished goods to the transported area for the delivery.

The above mentioned points were all the activities and the feautures of store room and warehousing department by the winner industry. QUALITY DEPARTMENT: Quality control is the process of control where the management tries to conform the quality of the product in accordance with the pre- determined standards and specifications. WORKS OF QUALITY DEPARTMENT CARRIED BY WINNER INDUSTRY: The quality department team comprises of well experienced and skilled professionals ,it includes 5 members.

The quality department in winner industry conducts regular meetings with the manufacturing workers, and explain the importance of quality and they insist the parameters followed by them.

The winner industry is manufacturing industry which is not compromising in the quality aspects.

Surprise inspection is done by the quality department to check the working condition and mood of the workers while they are engaged in manufacturing work.

Till the packaging of the finished product it is strictly analysed by the quality department in winner industries.

The materials used in winner industry for the manufacturing process is examined and checked at various stages. At the time of procurement of raw materials from their vendors. At the time of manufacturing process, the way of production is analysed and examined by the quality department. The end product materials are also undergone quality analysis for the improvement of the business and to retain the valuable clients. Winner industry is aautomible components and impeller production company. HR work is very limited and Recruitment is based on the reference method. Training for the worker is fully based on Practical observation. Safety measures are strictly followed by the winner industry for the welfare of their workers. The job satisfaction of the worker is maximum and the relationship between the superior and the subordinate is healthy. It is a small scale and developing industry. Since it is a small scale industry the implemented technologies are not that much efficient. Quality department is doing their work very prominently and efficiently by their activities. Maximum employees are engaged in manufacturing work and all the employees male. Delivery of goods is on time to the clients , which leads to clients satisfaction in a healthy manner.

SUGGESTIONS:

The new advanced technologies can be implemented in winner industry like ERP , so that the production department become excel in technical aspects and also the data can be referred by all other production related department and decisions can be taken immediately.

The winner industry can expand his business by showing more concentration on export, so that it can export its components to many

other countries. Performance analysis of the workers can be done in a better way by adding some more parameters, so that the workers can enjoy incentives added to their salaries.

CONCLUSION:

According to my study in Winner industry, the company is now in a growing position. Even though they have a tough competition in in corporate they survive through their competitiveness. They are good in manufacturing their products. Since now they dont have any debt to be paid.. I concluded that the production programs are well organized by the winner industry. The company seems to be moving in right basis towards the development.However, a few drawbacks have been found and remedies are suggested.
