1. Who can register to vote? Any U.S. citizen who is 17 years of age and will be 18 on or before the next election or primary; a bona-fide resident of Bridgeport; if previously convicted of a felony and was incarcerated a person is eligible once released from confinement and discharged from parole if applicable. 2. How do I register to vote? Contact the registrars via telephone, or fax and an enrollment application will be mailed to you; Complete an enrollment application in person at the Registrars office ; Or complete the enrollment application received with your drivers license application sent by the Department of Motor Vehicle. 3. Where do I vote? For your convenience we have included a voters street guide on this site. Log in your name and address and you will be provided with your voting location. 4. What time do the polls open? Primary and General Elections are held between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. 5. Why should I register with a political party? In accordance with Connecticut State Statutes, one cannot vote in a partys primary unless one is enrolled with said party; 6. If I am not enrolled with a party what is my status? You are and unaffiliated voter 7. What are the Election officials responsibilities? The Moderator is in charge of the polling place and performs or directs all operations; Two(2) Assistant Registrars assist the moderator in directing operations, they also provide direct services to voters; Checkers verify voter identification and check-off the names of voters before they are provided with a ballot; Unofficial Checkers (Candidate Checkers) check-off voters names for participating candidate campaigns; Tabulator Attendantsare stationed near the Voting Machine ready to assist voters, they also monitor the voting to ensure that voters properly check-off the voting list before they are given a ballot and that they leave the area immediately after voting; Demonstrators greet voters and demonstrate a how to video; Ballot Clerkis responsible for handing out ballots, accounting and reporting of all ballots before the opening of the polls during the course of the day and the closing of the polls, Head Moderator is responsible for the supervision of the voting count after the closing of the polls, responsible for completing all necessary tasks related to re-counts, audits, and also reporting election results to the Secretary of the State Office. Absentee Ballot Moderator responsible for the overall conduct of the absentee ballot central counting operation.

8. How can I get an Absentee Ballot? Contact the Bridgeport Town Clerks Office at (203) 576-7208. 9. Should I report a change of address to the Registrar of Voters? Yes, it is important that you report a change of address to ensure that you are voting for the representatives in your area. Also if you do not report a change of address, when we conduct our annual Canvass if your forwarding information has is no longer valid you are taken off the active voter list and placed on the inactive. This will cause you a delay when you go the polls. 10. What if I move out of Town? You should register in your new town. If you move back to Bridgeport, you must reregister; 11. If I enroll with a party today when can I vote in a primary for said party? Your voting rights are granted immediately upon receipt, if you are transferring to a different party you right to vote in a primary for said party will be effective in 90 days.
