MADHUPUR NATIONAL PARK, TANGAIL After arriving in and the Madhupur National Par , Tangail we were receiv ed by the

ACF Rabindranath Adhi ari Then we got the information about Madhupur N ational Par , Tangail. The Madhupur National Par , Tangail was declared by the G overnment in 24/02/1982 as an Act in 11/for/69/81/967 number Gazed. Overview of Madhupur Natitional Par : It is established on 20,837.23 acres where 20,244.23 acres are in Madhupr thana and 593.0 acres are in Mu tagacha thana. In recent past Madhupur Gor was under t he Mymensingh Forset Division which had the historical value. At that time the t otal area of the forest was 63,001.89 acres. A part of this forest area was tran sferred to Tangail Forest Division in 1988 and the area was 45,565.18 acres. It is located in Madhupur Upazila where 2,525.15 acres is Protected Forest and 43,0 39.04 acres is Proposed Protected Forest. Sal is the dominant species of this forest. Once upon a time abundant number o f Flora and Fauna was present here. Te forest lost its area day by day for the p opulation explosion, land use in house construction and agricultural practice by tribal people, illicit felling, and Sal coppice used as fuel wood. In the past t wo project was started in 1961-62 to 1964-65 and 1965-66 to 1969-70 for the dev elopment of Madhupur Gor but it was became failed for enough fund. In 1999-2000 to 2003-04 for 5 years a Development Project of Madhupur National Par , Tangail was ta en and it was extend to 2007-08. The main development wor was ma ing bou ndary wall in 3000.0 acres of core area but it was not possible for the tribal p eople of this area. two parts. 1. Core area [3000.0 acres] 2. Buffer area

The total area is divided into three ranges for well management. Here we have fo und a fruit orchard which area is 25 ha. In plantation program the fruit species are getting priority but Garjan is planted here for giving shade to the plantat ion. One deer breeding centre is present in Lohoria beat. There are 52 deer present h ere but it is unbelievable that the breeding rate is very low. Water scarcity is the major cause of it. For protecting the par area and to protect the wild lif e, forest department wants to ma e boundary wall. It is seen that where the boun dary wall is present the vegetation has well growth rate but it was not possible for the protection of tribal people. Species variation of this forest is more and fine than Vawal national par . At p resent forest department started bamboo plantation in this area but it is very h armful for Sal plantation. Other forest trees are well grown where bamboo planta tion presents. It is sorrow to say that 60% - 80% Sal forest was illegally encro ach by the tribal and local people. According to spea ers speech , Once upon a time it was the state of Queen Vabani when this area was maintained by the Landlords. At that time the tribal people was few in number (approximatel y 300 400 houses) and they were coming from Assam via Mymensingh. Then the landl ords were digging many ponds for wild life. But at present it is only history an d the forest is reached to extinct. Purposes of Establishment Madhupur National Par : Biodiversity conservation. Create sound environment for wildlife. Increase the Scenic beauty of the forest area.
