The eXCITemenT Is BUILDInG!
Dear Friends,

p r es e n ts

The 2012-2013 Season marks the start of our third decade of programming. This is an exciting time as plans are firming up for a building renovation that will enhance our ability to steward the arts more thoughtfully. We want the Ferst Center to be your arts destination for discovery, engagement and diversity. We are committed to introducing new artists to the Atlanta community. This season you can discover the virtuosity of the dynamic cello/percussion group Break of Reality, and TAIKOPROJECT, the vibrant new generation of the Taiko drumming tradition. We are excited to be able to continue our artist/community engagement programs. Now in its third year, the ARTech residency program expands to include two artists, providing extensive opportunities for all ages in our community to participate with string quartet Ethel and contemporary dance choreographer Sen Curran. I urge you to check out the ARTech section of our website and join in the creative process. Finally, it gives us great pride to share the diversity of our artists and their collaborative efforts with you. This year, jazz legends Chick Corea and Gary Burton hit our stage with renowned classical artists, the Harlem String Quartet; and ODC/Dances Velveteen incorporating young dancers from Atlantas Ballethnic Academy of Dance in the piece. Programming like this is only possible because of your generosity and I invite you all to be more deeply engaged by joining our Ferst Friends membership program. We have redesigned some of the benefits and hope you will join us in bringing world class performances to our community. Come, laugh, applaud, be amazed, be part of the excitement.
