PREFACE
The BBA program is professional course which helps the student to develop knowledge of the Industrial environment and business field`s regarding management theory as well as practically. I have taken my practical training from Sarvottam Milk Dairy. The main objective of practical training in the BBA faculty is that student`s come to know about the real working of an industrial unit. The knowledge of book that they acquire in their college is idealistic, but in reality it is quite different when encompassed with any business organization. So the management in practice is essential. As it is said that to become more sharp and precise in some field one need both the theoretical and practical knowledge. So as to get actual consciousness about the business working and it`s pattern of management. It is necessary to look over it and just not real it, there by such a practical training in the form of industrial training in the form of industrial visit helps the person to be familiar with things for before and so as to adjust and progress very well. I am here with the same objective of taking training in Sarvottam Milk Dairy. It was my first depth experience with an industry unit. It helped me an insight of how actually a unit functions in the practical worked in this due regard. I here in have tried to give a detailed and exhaustive report on the function and management of the entire unit dividing the whole working four main segment`s General information, Personal information, Marketing information & Financial information. All the data required in the sequential and step by format is drawn.

1 INTRODUCTION

Sarvottam Milk Dairy is a manufacturing unit. It is situated on the Bhavnagar to Rajkot highway in Sihor. It is producing milk & buttermilk by collecting milk from the villages so it is the cooperative unit. It was started on 12th December 2005.

In the 1974, the Bhavnagar Dairy was established with the help of Gujarat Dairy. It`s brad name was SAURAS. It produced milk & ghee and exported in the Bhavnagar city with the support of cooperative society. They had established their branches in the villages for the collecting of the milk. The exportation of the Bhavnagar Dairy, in the year of 1989 it was reached at 42500 litters. After that the process of purchasing & selling was decided and on24th December 1999 the Bhavnagar Dairy was stopped by Government. The SANGH was also enabling to do anything for the crisis of Bhavnagar Dairy. When the SANGH is established in 1974 they take the responsibility to solve the problems of their cooperative members but somehow there are no action taken by them or maybe there are not proper response from the government to solve the Bhavnagar Dairy and to help the small milk producers. On 24th December 1999 Bhavnagar Dairy was closed because cooperative society was not doing their work well, so it goes in the loss. All Branches which are situated in the villages meet together in the District PANCHAYAT`S ground and they all decide to request for the selling of milk to the government. They gave this responsibility to the Shri HARISHANKAR R.NANDVA, Shri SUNILBHAI OZA, Shri

RAJENDRASINH RANA, & Shri MAHENDRABHAI PANOT, all request to the Gujarat government for selling of milk. Government permitted for the milk selling with the support of UTTAM Dairy Ahmadabad under Shri V.C. JOSHI`S inspection. At 1st January 2000 the managing director of the UTTAM Dairy & other directors gave authority to Shri HARISHANKAR R. NANDVA and Shri MAHASHANKAR PANDYA at energy house of Bhavnagar for the selling of milk.

Cooperative association paid 15% dividend till now. Shri MAHASHANKAR P. PANDYA & Shri HARISHANKAR R. NANDVA associated with the UTTAM Dairy at 13th January 2000 at TALAJA`S BABRA town. Here they started selling center. The land was on contract base unit but main aim of all was that to collect fund and established their own so they met at 21st June 2001 MAHENDARBHAI arrange one meeting and at that time register Shri K.B.UPADHYAY has been requested and guided and from that guidance committee creation was become possible at 27th June2001 by register started at REG:S/U28701 on wards.

The process of selling is performed by UTTAM Dairy in the state but now a days selling is handled by the committee. So at starting stage for selling of milk they printed useful stationary and they also gave foods of animals like KHAN etc as cooperative activity. Now member of G.C.M.M.F to Ahmadabad`s chairman Shri MOHANBHAI BHARVAD had meeting with the chairman of committee Shri MAHENDRABHAI PANOT. In this meeting they had brought some machinery and dead stock and they also planned to start factory at Talaja. It was a temporary place. They started here selling center. On 21st November 2004 committee decide to produce milk themselves. Committee has purchased 10VIGHA of land at the Bhavnagar to Rajkot highway near the Sihor. At 12th December 2005 here they established Sarvottam Milk Dairy

2. SIZE OF UNIT & FORM OF ORGANIZATION

There are three types of industry which are as under 1) SMALL SCALE INDUSTRY 2) MEDIUM SCALE INDUSTRY 3) LARGE SCALE INDUSTRY According to the industrial policy 1991 small scale unit is a unit in which investment of fixed assets and current assets is between 25lac to 5crore. Medium scale unit is a unit which investment in fixed assets falls between ranges of 5crore to 10crore. Large scale unit is the one in which investment in machinery and plant more than 10crore. Size of the unit like that small scale and large scale unit depend upon the risk involves. Before starting any unit it is necessary to decide the size of the business unit because there is direct relationship between the requirement of capital and the size of unit. Sarvottam Milk Dairy is a medium scale unit. It is not a large scale unit. It is having investment of Rs.2.90crores. They are using heavy modern technology equipment and machines with latest modern technology in their premises with up to date technology used to increase the volume of production and also its quality would grade up. There are some factors are also affecting to the firm for the demand of product, type of product, technology etc.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

Organization structure of the unit is depending upon the requirement of capital size and form of the company. The organization structure of the Sarvottam Milk Dairy includes three levels. 1) Top level 2) Medium levels 3) Lower level

1) TOP LEVEL: -

Top level includes the unit or groups. Top

level consists of mainly Board of Directors, General Manager, and Chairman etc. They take the entire decision about the unit. They manage the unit by making plans for the unit according to the future situation in the Sarvottam Milk Dairy. to the bottom level. It covers only the main departments of the company. They mainly obey the top level decision and from it they make their own planning and give order to lower level people. It consist finance department, marketing department, human resources department in the Sarvottam Milk Dairy.

lowest in the chart of company. It is the level where actual work is done. This level also called as operational level because here day to day work is done in this level mainly includes bottom level workers, Forman.

1. INTRODUCTION: Employees are the arms and leg of the company. For starting any business land, labor, capital and man power are the very important but the Employees are the basic requirement for the firm because without the man power any work cannot be done. The man is social animal so we can not include it in the assets then also some organization show manpower in their balance-sheet. Nowadays the entire process is automatic, then also the man power is also important but the required knowledge is very important to maintain machinery. We can say that the personnel department is the heart of the any organization. It is broadly said in the world of personnel management that MANAGEMENT OF A MAN IS CHELLENGING JOB. In common parlance, human recourse means the people, but the different management experts have defined human resources differently. MICHAEL J. JUCIUS has defined as a whole consisting of inter related, inter dependent and interacting psychological, sociological and ethical components. The management of human resource is viewed as a system in which participants seek to attain both individual and group goals. In the Sarvottam Milk Dairy there is a good and remarkable personnel management. The main objective of Human Resource Management is to make good relationship between the organization and manpower (employees, staff, etc.)

All the organization whether it is small scale, medium scale or large scale all the firms needs to recruit and selection. Recruitment and selection engaged with the same factors which are as under . The size of organization. Employment condition of organization. Working condition in the company. Salary condition of organization.

RECRUITMENT
Recruitment is nothing but the process of finding and getting

capable candidates and placing them at the right time, at the right place, right job. Recruitment is the basic and primary for the personal department. EDWIN B.FLIPPO has defined recruitment as A process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating and encouraging them to apply for jobs in an organization At the Sarvottam Milk Dairy, they recruit the person by giving advertisement in newspaper like GUJARAT NEWS PAPER, SANDESH NEWS PAPER etc along with the required qualification.

SELECTION
The selection means to select the person according to the

required job by the right person at the right place or right job. The main objective of the selection process is that whether an application are well qualified for a specific job and to choose applicant, who is most likely to perform well in that job.

4. TRAINING AND MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT

In every firm there should be trained employees so they can do their work effectively without any fault in the product. Every organization has to train new employee so that they become well familiar with the work training. Organization can increase the work knowledge skill attitude and experience of the employee. And worker becomes confident by the training so they do their work neat and clean. Training and development are two different concept of the management. Training refers to a short term process utilizing a systematic way. Training teaches the employees to how to do work. While development is a long term procedure utilizing a systematic and organized process by which managerial personnel learn conceptual and theoretical knowledge for general purpose.

5. JOB DESCRIPTION

Job description is prepared on the basis of the data collected to job analysis. Job description is a functional description of contain what job entails. It is a description of, I. II. III. IV. V. The duties and activities to be performed in a job. The relation of the job. The equipment, tools, and machines involved. The nature of the supervisor. Safety and hazard of at job and so on.

In the Sarvottam Milk Dairy Job description id not adopted in whole but to some extent.

6. PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL

Performance appraisal or a merit ranking is one of the oldest and universal practices to measure the performance of an employee. It simply refers to all this procedures which are used in organization, related to the performance of an employee and know his contribution in organizational objective. Modern management system is using performance appraisal as the base for deciding the policies like compensation, bonus, promotion, etc. Mostly performance appraisal deals with employee merits like initiative, decision making, personality, productivity etc are measured in the organization. Performance appraisal is mainly used for the deciding the salary of an employee and whether an employee is beneficial for the organization or not. This all can be decided on the basis of performance appraisal. In Sarvottam Milk Dairy prepaid a register for a purpose of performance appraisal. In it they record all employees performance during a month.

Cash is the most liquid assets that business owners have. It includes money and such instrument as cheque, money order or bank draft which banks normally accept for deposits on immediately credit to the deposits account.

Cash is sole assets at the commencement and the termination of business. Planning for cash requirement is essential managerial function any business.

The dairy prepares cash budgeting to know the amount of liquid cash and other liquidity related to this. They prepare a summarized statement on cash budgeting and also keep an eye on their cash and other transaction related to it.

They always have some amount in liquid form so the uncertain expenses will be paid. And also have liquid cash in bank account as they can use it at any time. They put their cash in many branches of the same bank i.e. Bhavnagar district cooperative bank. They put their cash in Bhavnagar city branch, Sihor branch. Talaja branch etc.
