You are on page 1of 2

Part 1 a) IV = Weekly food expenditure DV = Weekly Income b) Use your calculator to do this. ( statist editor ) remember, x is IV and y is DV.

Dont forget the coordinates so they would know that you know what you are doing. And dont forget to label which one is which. c) Based on the scatterplot, there is no relationship between how much you are earning every week and how much you are spending on food weekly, however, it has outliers. d) It is not appropriate to calculate the correlation coefficient r for this data because there is no relationship between how much you are earning every week and how much you are spending on food weekly. e) The value is 0 because theres no relationship. f) 0^2 = 0 no relationship g) Use your calculator to figure this out. F4, Regression, linreg(a+bx), list 1 is x and list 2 is y, then enter. h) If you have a negative number in the slope ( y=a-bx ) its a negative slope. If its positive, it has a positive slope. i) Just substitute $500 into x to find the answer. DONT FORGET TO SHOW YOUR WORKING OUT. j) It is not reliable because the set of data that has been used do not have a relationship.

Part 2 Just do the same thing in Part 1 but change the values into the values needed for part 2. REMEMBER, DO NOT CONFUSE PART 1 to PART 2 or else its going to be all wrong. Part 3 Based on the graph that I have created, there is no relationship between income and expenditure on food. However, there is a relationship between income and expenditure on leisure. Through these findings, I conclude that whatever amount of income a person would get weekly, their spending on food cannot be affected, but the spending on leisure is affected. The higher the income, the higher the person would spend his cash on leisure.

DISPLAYING, DESCRIBING AND ANALYSING DISTRIBUTIONS Part 1 a) You can do this. But dont forget to use the intervals. b) Make your answer approximately symmetric if the histogram looks like a pyramid. Or positively skewed if the histogram is decreasing from the start. negatively skewed if it is increasing from the start. ( look at chapter 1 if you are confused) c) You should be able to do this. Just look at the histogram and write your answer. Please get it right.

Part 2 a) Do the same thing like Part A b) Do the same thing like Part A c) Do the same thing like Part A

Part 3 a) The easiest way is to type the values in your calculator (FEMALES, NOT MALES) and then F4, 1 Var Stat, then type in which list is for the females. Then enter. The Minx is the minimum and thats the start of the 5 number summary. Just keep going till you get to MaxX ( the maximum and the end of 5 numebr summary.) b) Just interpret what you got from the 5 number summary to answer this. Part 4 a) Use calculator to create a boxplot. DO NOT FORGET THE LABELS b) Look at chapter 1 to answer this

GOODLUCK ^_^
