Service feature System layout Delivery specifications An HP consultant builds partitions and operating system images based on the architectural specification for the project. The consultant creates a scenario to test the cutover of the environment prior to migrating the production system. By creating a test bed and simulating the migration process, HP can demonstrate the expected results of the transition methodology and reduce the risk associated with the project. To further reduce risk, the consultant performs a full backup of the database. The consultant then shuts down the database, reviews any lingering commits, remaps the LUNs to the new platform, and starts up the database in the new system environment. If the previous server environment is still being utilized as part of the overall PeopleSoft solution, the consultant reconfigures the servers to meet the needs of the new system design. HP completes the knowledge transfer, sending the customer a written report that features system configurations and any other useful information gained during the engagement. This documentation can be used by IT staff to plan for the maintenance and growth of the production, development, and test systems.
