Having the accessible tools in physical education can be very challenging due to the lack of technology resources.

The idea is take a the basic technology and modify its teaching tools for physical education. Below is a list of options to help assist students with special needs.

Students with Cognitive Difficulties: 4-7th grade


Don Johnston is a reading tool that capture students for reading and writing. A great way to utilize this tool in physical education is: Have the students read about an activity Write a game Explain to the class Have the class participate in the activity Participate in the activity if possible http://www.donjohnston.com Simon sounds and Simon spells it out loud is a tool to assist students in learning the alphabet, letters sounds, and words. Students with Physical Difficulties: 1-7 grades


No Limits to Learning is a great tool that integrates the Wii games for learning and assisting students adaptive exercises. Juba is an interactive learning tool that allows to students to use imagination by explore, create, learn, and share. The idea is to engage the whole brain in learning. Modifying Juba in physical education will help give adaptive students the confidence to engage with other students. I would suggest using Juba as a learning tool for students create and share with other classmates what they have learned. Students with physical disabilities with be able to share his or her learning experience through their own eyes. This will develop a neat interaction with the other students because there is something we can all learn from one another.

A great opportunity would be utilizing YouTube. Another thought would be using the iPad for photos. The students could take photos of the class doing various activities and could create his or her own movie. However, my PE classes run off of inclusion and not seclusion. Modification is a key word in physical education courses. ______________________________________________________________________

Students with Sensory Difficulties: All grades could utilize these two resources.

Classroom FM Sound-Field Amplification System can be utilized by the teacher to help students with listening and and learning in the classroom. This type of learning will engage students with sensory difficulties and allow them to participate with the other students. VisionCue - This allows students with vision impairments a clearer option for understanding. I would utilize vision cue for watching YouTube videos of the activities we are doing. This will allow the students a higher level of learning and that options to modify to his or her best ability when doing the activity. At-Risk Students: 6-12 grade


BrainPop is a great tool for grabbing students attention and engaging them in learning in class activities. BrainPop is extremely interactive and shows At-Risk students a healthy relationship with learning.

movement. I also feel this would be a positive outlet for students to express themselves in a safe environment. http://www.ddrgame.com/

iPad - www.sportstracker.com on the iPad would be a great place to grab At-Risk students behaviors. To track and analyze his or her performance can be very motivating for these students. Students could also keep diaries and map his or her personal work-outs. ______________________________________________________________________

Gifted and Talented: 6 - 8 grade


Destination Imagination allows students to engage in higher learning and challenges students with problem solving and teamwork. I would utilize this program as a research tool, community service, and self development. I would encourage students to use creative thinking and develop activities that can be used in the classroom. PE Central is a great resource for physical educators. I would use this website for the gifted and talented students to research, develop, and creating a lesson plan to share with class. Students can gather information on lessons or completely make up their own activity and submit it to PE Central. http://www.pecentral.org/

iPad - www.healthhagen.com would be a great tool for students to research medical symptoms, diseases, and learn to trouble-shoot their own symptoms. This would be a great homework assignment that can be integrated into a lesson that would revolve around the positive exercise benefits for certain symptoms or diseases.
