< 10 > 10 and < 50 < 250 According to Article 2 of the annex of Commission Recommendation 2003/361/EC of 6 May 2003, which applies from 01 January 2005, an SME (Micro, Small or Medium-sized Enterprise) is an enterprise which: has fewer than 250 employees, has an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euro, and/or an annual balance-sheet total not exceeding 43 million euro. http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/enterprise_policy/sme_definition/index_en.htm Owned by a non SME: x YES NO Description of the organisation (max 1.000 characters): AVIOSPACE is a young company located in Torino within the area of Politechnique. The company was formed in 2004 by a small group of professionals, all of them with extensive experience in the Aerospace field (Engineering, Manufacturing, Program and Project Management, Procurement and Quality). Aviospace network of partnership include other SME (Engineering and Manufacturing), Universities and Professionals. From January 2010, Aviospace has been acquired by EADS Astrium, but remaining an Italian registered company with Italian management and personnel.
Aviospace is interested in the development of innovative materials and structures, propulsion system, robotic, transportation, in situ resource utilization, exploration, energy systems, advanced avionic. The current programs are : 1. FP7: Nanotough (2008 2011). This projects aim is to develop new materials (nanocomposites) whose properties equals or even surpass those of the polymer used for comparison, but at a lower cost level and with a new combination of added features. Aviospace task is the testing of components for aerospace 2. Piedmont Region: TOP (2009 2011). The goal of the project is to develop a new class of Nanostructured Multifunctional Composite Material (NMCM) by means of RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) technology. Aviospace is Prime Contractor. Further information on the sector of interest (max. 500 characters) 3. EDA: Sesamo (2010 2011). The projects aim is to develop sensors for structural monitoring. Aviospace is in charge to define the requirements.
In the past Aviospace has been involved in the Study of the Moon Descent and Landing System (Lunar Lander) for the Italian Space Agency; in the frame of this Study the Company was Prime Contractor, with Astrium-ST and University of Roma as Subcontractors, and has performed the activities of Project Coordination, Project Administration, Moon Vision Architecture, Configuration Trades, Thermal Control S/S, Design and Development Plan, Cost Assessment and Phase B/C/D Planning. Aviospace is expecting to participate in an ASI National Project called CAB Bioregenerative Environmental Control, with the task to develop a robotic greenhouse for Space applications
Research topic according to the work programme (if available, specify the code of the topic(s) that you are interested in, e.g. ENV.2010 2.1.3-4.or KBBE-2010-1-7-01)
The current Space call is not yet available but we are interested in the development of innovative materials and structures, propulsion system, robotic, transportation, in situ resource utilization, exploration, energy systems, advanced avionic.
Aviospace technical-managerial nucleus is constituted by professionals with consolidated experience more than 20 years - in the aerospace field, with all the expertises and young engineering needed for the company operability. Moreover material and composite engineering skilled in nanocomposite material and production technologies are part of the staff of Aviospace.
