Ben Willmott - CIPD


Ben leads the CIPDs Public Policy team, which works to inform and shape debate, government policy and legislation in order to enable higher performance at work and better pathways into work for those seeking employment. His particular research and policy areas of interest include stress, disclosure of mental ill health, wellbeing, data protection, health and safety and industrial relations. Ben joined the CIPD in 2003. He started his career in regional journalism and prior to joining the CIPD was news editor and employment law editor at Personnel Today magazine.

Helen Knight British Gas


In 2010, Helen Knight joined British Gas as their National Wellbeing Manager. Since then she has worked to coordinate activities and gain widespread support for a series of initiatives that form part of an integrated resilience programme. Helen has had many years of experience working within the Wellbeing industry, having previously introduced and developed a highenergy Wellbeing Programme for Amey, a large service and facilities provider. Before that she was a Well-being Consultant for The Validium Group, working closely with a wide range of clients.

Vanessa Sallows - Legal & General


Vanessa Sallows is the Underwriting & Benefits Director at Legal & General and has responsibility for the claims and medical underwriting teams within their Group Protection business. Vanessa is passionate about the psychology of work and what prevents individuals from working during periods of ill-health. Vanessa has been instrumental in developing the pro-active claims management and rehabilitation approach that Legal & General currently use to assess & manage their Group Income Protection claims.

Mandy Rutter Validium International


A qualified psychologist and counsellor, Mandy began her career as an ergonomist in the airline industry. She then moved into the public sector working as a psychologist and counsellor for teenagers and families whose lives had been disrupted by trauma. Mandy worked at AXA ICAS (previously ICAS) for 18 years, initially as a telephone counsellor supporting employees affected by disasters, and then as a Clinical Crisis Manager, advising and consulting with organisations involved in disaster recovery. More recently, Mandy has joined The Validium Group and has broadened her role to include consultation on the design and delivery of strategic employee issues particularly around crisis management, stress, resilience and employee wellbeing. Mandy regularly facilitates training programmes and workshops for managers and staff on Psychological First Aid, Developing Resilience, and Building Resilient Teams.

Tina Harris Brian Friendly Workshop.


Tina Harris has worked with Stellar Learning and Brain in Business since 2007. Following a successful career in Financial Services she became involved in training. Tina has always been fascinated by people and how we learn and develop new skills both at work and in our personal lives. She is passionate about the benefits of Brain Friendly Learning and has completed the How to be a Brain Friendly Trainer program accredited by the Institute of Training & Occupational Learning (ITOL). Tina has significant experience in working closely with organisations to develop solutions specific to their needs. She also drives the Brain Friendly Learning Group, a professional development group for trainers.
