MEXICAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS 2013


The Government of Mexico has offered 7 scholarships for Indian nationals for the year 2013 for higher level studies in Mexico. The scholarships are advertised herby in the following subject fields: I. II. III. IV. V. Agriculture Biotechnology Information Technology Environmental Science/ Engineering Spanish Language & Literature.

KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH IS A MUST: If the applicant speaks other language than Spanish he/she must add a proficiency in Spanish language certificate (issued by a University or Educational Institution) that proves it. Masters Degree or PhD Degree

LEVEL OF STUDY:

[Scholarships are granted up-to 2 years for Masters Degree / up-to 3 years for PhD Degree]

QUALIFICATION: Applicant should have Bachelors Degree or equivalent with a minimum cumulative grade average of 8 on a scale of 0-10 in relevant subject for Masters studies / should have Post-graduate Degree with a minimum cumulative grade average of 8 on a scale of 0-10 in relevant subject for PhD studies.
The applicant should have received/be in process of receiving academic acceptance from the host Mexican institute. [A list of participating Mexican Institutions are given in the website: http://amexcid.mx/index.php/oferta-de-becas-para-extranjeros/1416 ]

SELECTION CRITERIA Applicants academic excellence in the intended area of study Coherence between the academic and work records and the intended specialization area in Mexico. Importance of the applicants studies and direct contribution to the development of his/her country. Connection between applicants studies and specific projects in progress or already approved, and the impact caused by them in his/her country. Applicants work reintegration in his/her country at the end of the scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIPS BENEFITS Registration and tuition, as established in each institution program. Stipend amounting $7,479.60 Mexican pesos (equivalent to 570.794 USD on 20Apr-2012) for Masters Degree and for Spanish language and Mexican culture studies. Stipend amounting $ 9,349.50 Mexican pesos (equivalent to 713.493 USD) for PhD Degree. Health Insurance from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), since the third month of the scholarship. Transportation from Mexico City to the host city of the academic Institution at the beginning and to Mexico City at the end of the scholarship. The Scholarship does not cover: o Incorporation and revalidation expenses, o Thesis printing service, o Professional certification and academic degree procedures, o Registration in the National Registry of Foreign Citizens, o Any other expenses.

LAST DATE: 06-AUG-2012 Application on plain paper (in prescribed format) along with photocopies of educational certificates (including proof of age) and other documents, with a copy of recent passport size photograph pasted on the application, should reach: Section Officer, ES.5 Section, Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education), 2nd Floor, Wing 6, West Block-1, RK Puram, Delhi-110 066 by 06-Aug-2012. Application received after 06-Aug-2012 will not be entertained. Application can also be submitted online at the website www.sakshat.ac.in by 06-Aug-2012.

NOTES: 1. The following must be attached with the application: (a) Attested copy of the mark-sheet of the qualifying examination and attested copy of the certificate for the date of birth. (b) Attested copies of all degrees/diplomas/certificates etc. (c) Self attested copies will not be accepted. (d) Where grades are mentioned, the candidate must indicate the conversion formula adopted by the University/Institution and should indicate equivalent percentage of marks. 2. Equivalent foreign degrees will be considered.

3. M.Phil will be treated as one years research experience unless a certificate from the University is enclosed stating the duration of the M. Phil Course in that University. 4. Candidate who has already been abroad for study/research/training for more than six months at a time (either on a scholarship or on his own) is eligible to apply only if he has been in India for at least two consecutive years as on 06-Aug-2012 after his return from abroad. Application of candidate, who is staying abroad, will not be considered. 5. Candidate should have adequate knowledge of geographical situation, culture and heritage of Mexico and of India. 6. Application in subject-field, other than those specified, will not be considered and an applicant will be considered only for one subject field. All required documents are to be attached with the application. Application in which the subject field is not indicated shall be rejected. 7. Employed candidate must send application through his employer with No Objection Certificate. However, an advance application can be submitted with the understanding that the application through employer would reach before the date of interview, otherwise candidate will not be allowed to appear for interview. Advance application must be complete in all respects. 8. Candidate must attach with the application a description in at least 500 words of his project/proposal of study/research to be undertaken in Mexico. 9. In case no communication is received by an applicant before 30-Sep-2012, he/she may presume that he/she has not been considered for the scholarship. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard. 10. Application, which is incomplete (e.g. subject has not been mentioned / photograph has not been pasted / unsigned application) will not be considered. 11. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature of the applicant. 12. While indicating the period of past experience & stay abroad, candidate should mention the specific dates. 13. As these scholarships are offered by a foreign government the application should be submitted in English only. 14. Candidate who does not possess the essential qualifications or fulfil the necessary eligible conditions, need not apply. 15. THE DECISION OF SELECTION COMMITTEE SHALL BE FINAL. NO REPRESENTATION IN THIS REGARD WILL BE ENTERTAINED. 16. The final Selection of the nominated candidates rests with the Government of Mexico.

17. Mere fulfilment of minimum requirements as laid down in the advertisement, does not qualify a candidate for interview. Interview calls are given only to limited number of candidates after their applications are examined. (Please check the UPDATES in the link http://mhrd.gov.in/higher_education) 18. The applicant who is in employment should have an assurance from his employer that he will be getting sufficient leave by his/her employer if he/she is awarded the scholarship. 19. This division will not be responsible for any postal delay. 20. All candidates shall address themselves to the Mexican Academic Institutions in order to be formally accepted. The acceptance of each candidate from a Mexican academic Institution must be done through an acceptance letter signed by the Director of the Mexican host Institution mentioning the intended study program and the period during which it will be carried out by the candidate. The letter of acceptance must be submitted at the time of interview. The candidates who are not able to submit the letter of acceptance at the time of interview will have to submit the same to the Mexican Embassy on or before 18-Sep-2012.
