Selecting the HTTP port number
The HTTP port is used by the Web browser to request pages and graphics from the server. Normally, a browser uses a default port value of 80. HP Web Jetadmin software defaults to 8000. Port 80 can be used if no other Web servers are using that port.

HP Web Jetadmin installer

HP Web Jetadmin uses a cross-platform installer/uninstaller that works the same on all supported platforms. Users can use either a graphical or textual interface. Both methods extract the files to a temporary directory before continuing. NOTE: You must have administrative rights (root/administrator) to install the HP Web Jetadmin software.

Graphical install
1. Start the program from the directory it was downloaded into. For example, the Windows XP English filename is: wja81_xxxx_xp_en.exe , and the SUSE Linux English filename is wja81_xxxx_su.selfx , where xxxx is the specific build number. Follow the instructions on the installation screens. a. If you are upgrading from a previously installed version of HP Web Jetadmin software, a previous installation dialog box appears. Select New Installation if you do NOT want to keep previous settings (such as groups) from your previous installation. Otherwise, select Upgrade. Machine Name: A default value is provided. Replace the shown machine name only if you know that the provided name is incorrect. If no name appears as a default, enter the DNS host name. If no DNS host name exists, use the TCP/IP address of the computer. To find the DNS host name, open a command window and run the command: nslookup <ipaddress>. Port Number: A default value of 8000 is provided unless this port is in use. Destination Path: A default is given. Program Group (Windows only): Default given is HP Web Jetadmin.
