January CSMP Performance Soars High

E-call January 2012
%Done 91.43%
DAU LEC, PAMPANGA Closing in on this months charts is the remarkable performance of our CSMP Partners in terms of their Ecall responses and JO updates throughout the first month of the new year. After reaching 83.33 % done E-calls on the first week, their performance continued to increase to 91.43%, completing 32 out of 35 Ecalls. Most E-calls for the month were either genset or WACU related. After keeping track of all issued JOs, only one out of 14 was left pending, thus creating a 92.86 % accomplished JOs. It is interesting to note that their first week performance only reached 33 % even though it is but justifiable, since it was based only within the said time frame. This months JOs were mostly tower and perimeter lights replacement, diesel delivery and WACU hauling.

Proper PMR Sets Record on E-calls

DAU LEC, PAMPANGA After jump starting the year with outage reduction in mind, the Pampanga FOG sets the record straight with proper PMR, since it has been discussed as one of the key factors in reducing network outages. After implementing thorough site PMR of respective site owners, a record of 5 consecutive days (Jan.27-Feb 1) without E-call was made. It is a principle that reducing the need for E-calls proves that our sites are welltaken care of and thus, performs consistently.

HEADS UP FOR SUMMER CSMP SPOC personnel are getting ready to beat up summer with WACU site checks. As of this writing, there are already 5 deliveries of WACUs, as replacement to those with defective compressors, 1 with MERF and 3 are for request.

Access: CPF-NG Still Leads Outage Causes

S A N F E R NA N D O , PAMPANGA After gaining 26 out of 28 counts of power-related outages, CPF-NG among Metrosites has been the prevalent cause of outage for Pampanga. With Power taking 41 percent share of all outages for the month, finding abrupt solutions to these has become relevant. Meanwhile, coming into close second was Access-related outages involving counts of software related BTS problems including hanged BTSs, and hanged routers as well.

Among the Others category, January 6 marked the PLDT activity involving FITL thereby recording 10 counts of outages for the day alone. Following this multiple outage was a a steep spike of outages on January 9,

which was due to another power related cause being a commercial power failure in Angeles City, shutting down all Metrosites within the area. On the other hand, five outages which occurred last January 29 were

transport-related and were due to the down EML Ang2<>Ang5 link affecting 3 2G services and 1 3G. Additionally, there was also a problem with the NFHR link between Hotel Valentine and Malabanias.

Fast FACTS: The 7745 Decline

With the Phase I of the Pampanga Modernization swap-out all done, a tremendous decrease of common or well-known BTS alarms is becoming apparent.

Evidently, one of them is the 7745 alarm being Channel Failure Rate Above Defined Threshold. After having 20 counts last January 3, it closes in with 2 by the end of the month. The

sites which are most notable for this decline are sites from Porac, Lubao, Guagua, Mabalacat, and Angeles areas which are homed to BSC 155, 171, 79, and 133.

Canopy BRO and WIMAX Betters up for Pampanga

DAU LEC, PAMPANGA With the demand for consistent, reliable and faster speeds, the need for fixed wireless connections has already become prevalent. Thus, giving subscribers the best service should be the top priority. With the past month, progress has been eminent in terms of improving the BRO network. One of these accomplishments are the resetting of the recurring APs with unique password. (An AP with unique password is inaccessible and poses possible security threat) Eighteen (18) among the 20 APs with different password have already been shifted to default leaving only Angeles 8 which has 2 of the said APs. Also, three hundred twelve (312) BRO subscribers have already been rehomed to the relocation site (N1024) Laucpao while still currently rehoming 140 more subscribers. As for this quarter, plans are already laid up for both BRO and WIMAX transmissions. Pending sites with E1 expansions are San Roque Lacmit, currently having E1 constraint and still awaiting FITL completion at San Antonio Arayat to free up E1s, and San Antonio Arayat which is also awaiting FITL completion. Panipuan is also awaiting FITL completion and/or IP radio upgrade to proceed with its expansion. WIMAX site pending for transmission expansion is San Fernando 1 which is still for mapping on Nortel transmission. With these ahead, it will definitely be better for Pampanga.

Rainier Christian Arellano: Its TESTING All Over Again!

They say people do come and go. Well, they did forget that sometimes people leave something behind as if they never went away at all. Knowing Sir Rainier was only a brief encounter when measured upon lifes length. But it was enough to learn a lot from him technically. Adept with networking and computer skills, he was one that the team considers inevitable. Being a jolly good fellow, he has blended well with the team, young and not so young. His life in Smart, as he considers it, was filled with testingthe literal testing. ICEM, Delta, Top Baselining, Wimax testing, these are a few of the testing that Ive done with him. And it was kinda fun when you start with it. An Adventure. He also did testing with other SNCs, and as a fact, he spent his first and last day in Smart conducting testing. Thus, came the pseudonym, Delta Master. Well, you do get the hang of it when you do it over and over again. Something thats even remarkable about him was that he was never selfish about what he knew or learned. He always taught the novices. Although we know that well be seeing him again someday soon, its good to know that we always remember him when its testing all over again!

Learning Pains: Five (P)s Please...

If there is something worth remembering when youve done something valuable, it will always be the lesson youve gleaned when put through all the learning pains. The phase 1 of the Pampanga Modernization Swap-out has just come to a close and learning pains were deemed certain to fill out the vast room of improvement. They say the first stage of learning is acceptance. When given the truth, it is in knowing your error that you learn to do better next time. As the five (P)s suggest, Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance, dedication to your work produces quality. We might have not been our very best during the Phase 1 Swap-out, but we are very much compelled to improve. To learn. To be better. To be committed. To stand from where we have fallen.

Whats in IPAD3s Rumor Bag?

To begin with, the iPad 3 might feature a new quad core ARM-based processor the A6. It is wildly predicted that the new device might feature a retina display especially with Apple regularly testing the 2048 x 1536 (9.7 inch) display from the Samsung and LG models. In the mid November of 2012, there have been more rumors on the new tablet that it might feature a dual-LED light bar technology due to its super-highpixel density. One tasty rumor that is also exciting to know about is the suggestion that iPad3 might boast NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to take on the Mac devices nearby. This technology allows users to share and transfer data just by the flick of the wrist. Another expected specification of the iPad 3 suggests that it could feature more storage capacity with its added 128 GB flash storage option. The thunderbolt port in the 2011 MacBook Air and

MacBook Pro is very popular for its astonishing speeds as it could also be included in the new iPad. This is a welcome move especially after the absence of a USB port in the first two generations of iPads. Just like the iPhone 5, the iPad 3 is also rumored to feature a 4G Qualcomm Gobi 4000 chip LTE nextgen connectivity.

Brings in the Galaxy Nexus to the PH

Galaxy Nexus has been sitting pretty on display at the Smart Jump Center in SM Megamall since December. Samsungs other premiere phone, the Galaxy Note, also debuted exclusively with Smart. Thats why its no surprise when one of our reliable sources in Smart confirmed to us that they will be exclusively launching the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the Philippines. can connect to HSPA+. The only letdown is probably the 5MP camera. Other than that this is one of the best Android handsets you can get in the market today!

Whats the most exciting thing about this?

For me its the price. We dont have the official word yet but Im willing to bet that this will be offered for free or with very minimal cash out at Unlimited Data Plan 2000. I say this because Smart offered the iPhone 4S for free at Plan 2500 and the Nexus actually has a lower retail price. Again this is just our guess for now.
