Summer fest Group Ensemble Sesvetska Sela Folk Dance Ensemble Sesvetska Sela was established in 1994 and

d it is active in the eastern area of Croatia, Zagreb which is also the capital city. Ensemble started as a childrens group, which preformed traditional folk dances. Today Ensemble has grown to 160 members age 4-29. The group is split into two sections, of which there are children and adult performers. One section performs traditional folk dance and the other that makes up the Tamburitza band. Ensemble prides themselves on performing dances that are exclusively based on traditions and culture of the old Croats, and the areas where they lived. Today Ensemble has over 20 different dance choreographies from Croatia. This group has travelled all over the world to places such as; Germany, Poland, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bosnia England Russia Romania, Spain and France just to name a few. After so much travel it is amazing that Ensemble Sesvetska Sela has made it all the way to Utah from Croatia. They are excided to partner with the Bountiful Davis Art Center and to be performing at Summerfest. 2012. Zagreb is the largest city in Croatia, it also happens to be the capital. It represents the cultural, scientific, economic and governmental center of the Republic of Croatia in the prigorije region. In 2006 the citys population was around 784,900 people. The metropolitan area and now blossomed to around 1.1 million. Zagreb is the seat of the central government and administrative

bodies, including all government Ministries. The capital city is home to numerous museums, reflecting the history, art and culture in Croatia and Europe as a whole. Around thirty collections in museums and galleries comprise more than 3.6 million Exhibits. This does not include the church and private collections also found in Zagreb. Many of the dances you will see from Ensemble Sesvetska Sela are named after different regions in Croatia. Often times the theme of the music, the colors of the clothing the performer is wearing, and the movement of the dance will be influenced by cultural, economical or folk traditions that are found in the region. Some dances you may find interesting are the Dances found in the region of Podravina. In this region you will find dances that are preformed in closed circles, in which couples form four person groups. The most important dances you will find in Podravina are those that are connected with, weddings, carnivals and holidays such as Christmas or Easter.
