My name is Curtis French. I am ten years old.

I was born with a heart condition called Dextrocardia Corrected L Transposition with Sub-Pulmonary Stenosis. In other words my heart is backwards. On July 5, 2011 I went to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for a procedure to close a inch diameter hole between my hearts upper chambers. I had been experiencing a 30% oxygen loss because of the hole. The operation went fine, but before we left the hospital the next day the x-ray showed that the device they implanted through the catheter had fallen out of the hole and passed through the valve from the upper chamber to the lower chamber of my heart. A team of doctors and nurses rushed me in to emergency open heart surgery to remove the device before it caused a much worse problem. After a 4 hour operation they had removed the device and closed the hole with part of the outer lining of my heart. Three days after the second operation I was able to go home to recover. During my recovery I couldn't ride my bike or quad. I was really sad and bored, but that is when I came up with the idea to have a charity festival for the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital. I asked my dad and we started putting the plans together. Some really nice people at the Conway Sportsmen's Club agreed to let us use the club and we decided to have the event on September 1, 2012. We are having bands, games, Chinese auction, a real tattoo artist, air brush tattoos and lots of food and fun. We need lots of help to make this happen so anything you can give or do to help would be really appreciated. All of the money raised will go to help the wonderful people that helped me and most importantly the kids like me that need help from the Heart Institute at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Charity festival to benefit

Entertainment to include; live music from 2 Mile Ditch, Eugene and the Night Crawlers, Jordon Robb & Matt French, and Several bands from Davis School of Guitar Performance Curt is in one of these) other bands to be announced, tattoo artist, airbrush tattoo artist, and balloon art, fire juggling We are selling tickets for $20.00. Ticket price includes a meal and musical entertainment. (Food will be supplied by Fairground Market) Also, Pizza Joe's in Portersville is donating some pizza. There is a pond on the property for fishing. There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 Raffle. Please bring a non perishable food item or travel size toiletry for the Ronald McDonald House.
