Biology 12 Unit A- The Cell Assessment/Date

Biology 12 Unit B- Water and pH Assessment/Date

Standard I can describe how the polarity of the water molecules results in the hydrogen bonding. I can describe how the chemical properties of water are advantageous for life. I can provide specific examples for water as a temperature regulator, solvent, and lubricant. I can describe both acids, bases, and indicate the importance of pH to biological systems.

I can show/model how buffers work to regulate pH.

Biology 12 Unit C- Bio Cules Assessment/Date

Standard I can model synthesis and hydrolysis rxns and relate to rxns in the human body I can recognize carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids in formula, and skeleton form and chemical structure and function in the human body. I can recognize monosaccharaides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides and relate the molecules to how they function in the body. I can recognize and describe the location and explain the importance of the following in the human body: neutral fats, steroids, and phospholipids. List the major functions of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and describe their structure with accurate detail and compare these 2 molecules I can compare the following pairs: saturated and unsaturated fats, DNA and RNA Differentiate among the primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary structure or proteins. Explain how these levels of structure relate to protein functions

I can relate proteins structure to protein function and provide specific examples from the human body I can draw the general structure of the ATP molecules to its role as the energy currency of cells
