The Inaugural KYUEM Summit is a one-day student conference held in Lembah Beringin. Organized by the students of KYUEM, this symposium envisages the involvement of over 80 students and involvement of numerous eminent speakers. The KY Summit is set to be held in the vicinity of Kolej Yayasan UEM itself on the 22nd of September 2012.

Introduction The KYUEM Summit mainly aims to stimulate a critical discussion among pre-U students in assessing local issues and to view them in a more global perspective. Our vision is that the participants will be able to relate key issues and review their relevance from every possible angle. National issues that will be given relevant focus are Education System (Social) and Fiscal Policy (Economy) while in the political perspective, philosophical questions of politics will be discussed. The underlying reason for organising a summit instead of a Model of United Nations (MUN), a conference, or even a debate is to achieve an invigorating experience for our intellectual needs and not put the participants, in our view, under pressure of taxing technicalities. A summit is a strategic conversation that encourages breakthrough thinking as it gathers the outspoken youth of our community. Recent developments in Malaysian politics has seen the suspension of the Akta Universiti dan Kolej University, University and College University Act (AUKU), granting students more liberty in expressing their views on the Malaysian system of government. Through the KYUEM summit, we hope to contribute to the national effort of liberating youths mindset from the partisan dogma that influences the common thinking. The summit will encourage youths to view issues in an objective manner, to be resourceful when weighing facts and to guide them to make informed decisions in the future. The key issues identified for discussion in the summit are highly relevant as they have caused quite a stir in Malaysian society in recent months (Education System) while Fiscal Policy has always been a matter of debate in Malaysia (High Excise Duty and Huge Subsidies). Discussing philosophies of politics on the other hand would really help youths understand the workings of the political system. KYUEM Summit is not a mere engagement of speakers to discuss issues; rather it offers a scintillating experience to broaden our thinking and a platform to be involved in stimulating critical discussions while regaling the senses with the unique rhythms of our multifarious culture. We sincerely hope this event register a change in our way of thinking and helps participants to chart new paths leading to greater academic success.

To foster a discipline of objectiveness among youths in order to make informed judgments 4. To bring about constructive solutions and resolutions 5. To provide invaluable exposure to participants about KYUEMs diverse cultural community, which reflects the social makeup of our nation Outline of the KYUEM Summit 2012 The KYUEM Summit 2012 is a prestigious collegiate event that will bring together the best and brightest young minds of our country to discuss and critically analyse key national issues in the field of politics, economics and society respectively. The ultimate goal of the Summit is to establish a united stand of the youth leaders on these issues, which then will be conveyed to the relevant authorities. The Summit, which will be held for one full day, will see the participation of about 80 student delegates from various colleges accross Malaysia. The Summit, with a minimum participation fee of RM20, aims to foster the development of our future leaders and provide them with an effective and non-partisan platform for intellectual discourse. The total funds required to run the Summit amounts to about RM 10,000.
