The discussion on gunfire weapons is universal, and the Nuclear pact between India and the USA has

played it up more. As is the nature of man, we all tend to look at the darker side of all things. Our world is riding on a heap of Gunfire is the topic and I disagree with it. I dont deny that we have begun depending more on weapons than on face to face verbal duel, terrorism is taking its toil, but the world, after the disaster of the World Wars, still has a long way to go before it decides on a Third World War, which then will be the end of mankind. Also the cautious steps of man in this field are helped being restricted by the increasing rate of globalization and development, two factors which has given man the confidence that on no account shall some terrorist organizations be allowed to destroy the world we have so painstakingly built, a world we can hide ourselves in. The vision of world society for the Millennium has clearly emerged in the notion of globalization. In contrast to the still aggressively anticommunist 'New World Order' that opened the nineties, the 'kinder, gentler' and more self-evidently hegemonic 'globalization' of the dominant international discourse is a 'post communist' and even statement of a world becoming more and more unified in a progressive neo-classical and neo-liberal system proclaiming free choice, free enterprise and free labor. The advancing of technology is another aspect of development. Cosmologists have recently found traces of water in a planet-150 light years from Earth. Nas is also planning an expedition to Mars in 2010- with human beings on board. In the Medical science too, there have been many breakthroughs. Ways to convert all blood groups o type O have been found, which can be donated to anyone. Doctors in AIIMS have used the cornea of a single person, to provide sight to three patients. Even in Cricket, in which decisions made by the umpires on field used to be final, can now be questioned by the third umpire, thanks to hawk-eye technology which is installed in every pat of the field, even the wickets. Most importantly due to globalization, the developed world is focusing more on developing the third world countries by providing various social, technological as well as economical aids to women of both rural and urban sectors of the developing world. India is now on the way to becoming a developed country. Its economy too is booming. The Rupee which had been Rs. 42.00 as compared to 1$, has come down to an average of Rs. 40.58. The BSE Sensex for the 1st time on the 9th of July touched the 15,000 mark, now its riding high. In this completely new world, age is no factor. Recently a 67 year old, Meet Ramanimohan Pal was heard to have applied for class 12 examinations. And looking at the other side of it, are theyoung prodigies who have now empowered the world. World no. 2, chess player, 19-year-old Kolleru Humpy is an example. The Harry Potter trio too, who won our hearts over as the young 11 year olds in the 1st movie, are now among the richest kids on Earth, with Emma Watson worth $23.5 million and Rupert Grint having $20 million. But topping the list is 17-year-old Daniel Radcliffe, who with $ 50 million is the richest kid in England.

A new word counterterrorism has been introduced which refers to the practices, tactics, techniques, and strategies that governments, militaries, and other groups adopt in order to fight terrorism. Today, many countries have special units designated to handle terrorist threats. Besides various security agencies, there are elite tactical units whose role is to directly engage terrorists and prevent terrorist attacks. Also fighting terrorism is bringing people of different places together to work for the most conerning issues. SAARC is a recent example. SAARC provides a platform for the peoples of South Asia to work together in a spirit of friendship, trust and understanding. It aims to accelerate the process of economic and social development in Member States. What remains now is to see how far the world goes from here, there is always a dark and a light side of everything and it depends on man how he see it. Because in the end, the fact remains that its not how far you go, what matters is the direction you go in.
