1. Consider your own personal values and explain where they originated. Can you pinpoint its derivation? To what degree have you chosen your own values? To what degree are your own values products of your family, youre religious or cultural background, or your age? Does it matter where values originate?

What I am today my personalities, behavior and values are originated from my Family, at home where my brothers and sisters, my mom and dad lived together. I really believed that what I am today is the product of how my parents nurture and discipline us. My parents always tell us to be respectful to everyone especially to elders. We grew up with deep respect to our God and do not fear the God. We always pray novena every night before we all go to bed and ever since I was a child I always look up on him whenever Im in a trouble, and until now I still doing it. I can say that 50% of what I am today my values and personality came from my family. A huge chunk of my personalities was mold and cultivate by my parents. 20% of my personalities came from the word of God. 10% in school which serve as my 2nd home that helps me to be knowledgeable and competent. Another 10% for my own experienced in life, I can say that I grew up in every downfall of my life, I did something wrong I ask for his forgiveness, stand up and learn. 10% was influenced of my friends and people surrounding me. For me its not really important where your values originated from, what important is that you know what values are and how it shapes your life. How you deliver your own personalities and know whether youre doing the good or bad act and the difference between doing the right thing and doing the things right.

2. Identify an activity that is outside of your zone of comfort. Before engaging in this activity, consider what your expectations are. Then, subsequent to the experience, write a description of the experience and whether the reality matches your expectations considering in particular youre original perceptions of expectations and whether they were accurate.

During my High-school days I am type of person whos really have fear public speaking; I dont like speaking in front of many people and having thoughts of being embarrassed in front of them. I am afraid that I would choke/buckle whenever I spoke, because thats out of my comfort zone. Until such time that I was selected by our SK- chairman that time to run for next election and represent our organization which is SKP (sangguniaang kabataan ng pagsawitan) I asked our former SK-Chairman why did he chose me. I mean we have 300 members in our organization, why me and he replied I believed you are competent enough and you have the skills to lead the youth of our baranggay. First I rejected his offer and my organization, and pin-

point other members. And then the day after I rejected the offer our former chairman visits our house with numbers of SKP- members and speaks with my parents, and when I got home from school I was then told by my father to run as an SK- chairman on coming election. They really force me to run. Yes, I am afraid because I dont know if I can handle such responsibilities, and most of all afraid that I would speak in front of my constituents. Until such time that I was pleased and finally run for the election, not knowing what would happen next. Whats on my mind is that its really embarrassing if I lost on the election, and if I won it would also be embarrassing because I would be force to speak in front of my constituents. And fortunately when I won and elected as new SK- chairman all shyness and fear have all gone. They just disappear that day, I dont know perhaps I was just too happy that day. I was more like proud of myself and grateful for the privileged. All of my expectations turns out wrong and see things more as privileged instead of responsibility. Privileged to serve my baranggay and privileged to face my fear and finally overcome it.

3. What issue, challenge, or idea do you care about most in the world? Share it in a brief essay, then convince your reader why it is so important that she/he should also care about that issue to the same extent. It may be effective to use the theories discussed in chapter 1 to persuade your reader of the value of your argument.

One of the major issues I cared the most is the waste management of Plastic bottles globally; we are aware that tons and tons of plastic discard continue to pollute not only the Philippines but throughout the world, it is the number one reason why we experienced huge flood, global warming, and water pollution that destroy our environment. Plastic bottles are everywhere you turn. Drinking water, soda, various food products and even condiments come in plastic bottles. While plastic bottles provide manufacturers with a cheap and convenient way to package their products, these bottles take, on average, 1,000 years to biodegradeposing a threat to both consumers and the environment as a whole. Since most plastic bottles find their way in landfills, they will just end up buried beneath the ground. The soil may be contaminated over time with these toxic substances. If the soil is affected, plants cannot grow easily. Groundwater may also be contaminated if the toxic chemicals sink deeper into the ground. Plastic bottles may be reused by recycling companies, but millions of these bottles are eventually thrown away. Save Mother Earth people continues to destroy mother earth, with a single trash of plastic bottles all of us are continuously polluting and destroying our own land. Everyone of us should CARE all of us should be responsible and take care of mother earth. Earth gives us shelter, food everything. Now its time for us to give back to her the Love and Care that mother earth

deserves. Without Earth, we will not exist. So if we keep on destroying mother earth, any time soon all of us will extinct. A very good example of this is the Flood that we experience last August 7, 2012 here in Manila. Mother earth gives us back the trash that we discard on her. We have this saying Lahat ng tinapon mo ay ibabalik sayo. So with just single bottles, we usually say. Isa lang nmn yan. Ndi nmn yan mkaka apekto sa kapaligiran. If all of us has these perception or attitude what will just happen to us; we have 91.3 million total populations, just imagine the amount of plastic bottles that we discard which is enough to cover the entire country.

4. Your CEO, recognizes you as having extra-ordinary skills in decision making and communications, so she ask for guidance on how to best communicate her plans for an eminent reduction in force. What are some of the key strategies you will suggest she employ in reaching such a decision of making the announcement?

First I would be very thankful to my CEO in recognizing my skills in making a decision and in communication. Im really not in the position to give her some guidance because she is my CEO and im just her employee and she can ask someone whos professional in giving advices, but it would be very disrespectful if I will not help her coz shes the one who ask for it. What I will be telling her is just my opinion, beliefs or values towards my principle and its her decision if she would adapt it or not. And I have nothing against that, I just did whatever she asked me to do, as her employee. I would share to her the things that help me in having those skills. Primarily I would tell her that in making decisions as a CEO, it doesnt only involves a personal decision but also involves making a decision in behalf of, and in the name of the organization that exists within a particular social, legal and political environment. Thus in making decision it could have an impact mostly on people rather than an individual perspective. So as a CEO, she should examine her business institution from a social rather than an individual standpoint, and im referring to the broader social aspect of ethics as decision making for social responsibility. She should know if her decision is ethically right or wrong, legally right or not, or both and vice versa.
