SIC Codes What Are Standard Industrial Classification Codes?

The system of Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) was created by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. SIC codes are 4-digit codes which correspond to various business or industrial activities, such as Oil and Gas Extraction or Printing and Publishing Services. SPC assigns a Primary SIC code to each company in the database according to its primary business activity (as determined by revenue).
