This Eid, we keep in our mind and hearts the Muslims who were not even allowed to pray in Ramadan, neither in Masjids nor in their own homes. They are the Burmese Muslims. The United Nations has stated the Burmese Muslims are among the worlds most persecuted people. Doctors Without Borders calls them among the most likely to be extinct. Unfortunately, the world is still silent. Muslims in America have now come together to form the Burma Task Force USA in support of Burmese Muslims. It is a united effort now for us to work together.

We can provide you with a kit Urge your Senator to co-sponsor S.J.RES. 43a bill renewing the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act.

At the moment Burma and Bangladesh governments are blocking most of the relief work. Some relief workers are actually detained. We must put full international pressure on these governments to open up the following three things: Allow international media access to Rohingya Burmese Muslims Allow human rights organization full access to the area Allow all international relief organizations to operate there Burma government has recently allowed some Turkish relief under your pressure to reach Burma Muslims. But it is limited. We need more pressure.

The shura of Burma Task Force USA includes the following Muslim leaders: Sr. Zerqa Abid (OH), Sr. Seemi Ahmad (Muslim Peace Coalition, NY), Imam Nadim Ali, (Atlanta Shura Council GA), Ghalib Begg (Michigan Muslim Community Council MI), Imam Ashrafuzzaman Khan (ICNA NY) Shahnawaz Khan (Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, IL), Umme Kulsum (MO), Osman Meah (IL), Raafay Mohammed (CA), Bilal Raschid (Burmese Muslim Association), Imam Talib Abdur Rasheed (Majlis al-Shura NY), Dr. Shaik Ubaid (Muslim Peace Coalition NY). They are representing about 400 masjids in North America. Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, who led the Bosnia and Kosova efforts in the past, has agreed to lead the Burma Task Force USA. Background on the Myanmar Rohingyas

The Muslim population, which once stood at 3.5 million, has shrunk to 2 million as thousands flee the persecution. Exact figures are hard to come by since the government has blocked access to the media and human rights organizations. The following figures pertain to the newest genocide and are according to various non-governmental organizations in the UN, media and Burmese Muslims. At least 6,000 women have been raped 20,000 people killed 25,000 houses burned 100,000 are in concentration camps 300 Masjids closed.

The genocide in Burma is contrary to American values and our record on human rights. The United States must re-impose sanctions on Burma unless Burma allows full access to all internatinal media, relief and human rights organizations Restores the citizenship of Rohingyas Arrests all police and military officers who have committed crimes against civilians

Burma (Myanmar) must stop the genocide of Muslims. Burma must restore citizenship of Muslims, arrest the rapists, close detention camps or else risk sanctions being imposed on their country once again.

Talking Points For Bangladesh Officials

As a Muslim country, it is unconscionable that Bangladesh has closed its borders to fleeing Rohingyas. Bangladesh must open its borders and be an example to the rest of the world for upholding human rights. Once inside Bangladesh, Burmese Muslims must be treated properly and in accordance with international law.
