Strengths. Apple is a very successful company. Sales of its ipod music player had increased its second quarter profits by a huge margin in 2010 The favorable brand perception had also increased sales of Macintosh computers. So iPod gives the company access to a whole new series of segments Sales of its notebooks are also very strong, and represent a huge contribution to income for apple. Brand is all-important. Apple is one of the most established and healthy it brands in the world, and has a very loyal set of enthusiastic customers that advocate the brand. Such a powerful loyalty means that apple not only recruits new customers. It retains them i.e. They come back for more products and services from apple, and the company also has the opportunity to extend new products to them, for example the ipod, iphone, imac, etc. This makes apple most admirable company from past 4 years.(2008-11).

Weaknesses. It is reported that the apple ipod nano may have a faulty screen. The company has commented that a batch of its product has screens that break under impact, And the company is replacing all faulty items. This is in addition to problems with early ipods, iphones that had faulty batteries, whereby the company offered customers free battery cases.

A version of apple's itunes music store has been developed for the iphone so users can manage the tracks they store on it. Podcasts are downloadable radio shows that can be downloaded from the internet, and then played back on ipods and other mp3 devices at the convenience of the listener. The listener can subscribe to podcasts for free, and ultimately revenue could be generated from paid for subscription or through revenue generated from sales of other downloads.

There is also a high product substitution effect in the innovative and fast moving it consumables market. So ipod and mp3 rule today, but only yesterday it was cd, dat, and vinyl. Tomorrow's technology might be completely different. Wireless technologies could replace the need for a physical music player.

Strengths: Microsoft is a huge global brand. It is recognizable for two main reasons. It was one of the largest software developers it has developed a customer base of around 30 million people. It has built its reputation on the successful development of its computer softwares namely the windows line of products. Brand is all-important. Microsoft is one of the most established and healthy it brands in the world, and has a very loyal set of enthusiastic customers that advocates and uses the brand. With loyal customers, it means that microsoft does not only recruits new customers but retains old ones. The company is composed of different main offices inside the united states and around the globe making the distribution and development of its products easily accessible to the consumers. It has its offices in germany, united kingdom and europe and sub offices in countries such as china, france and korea.

Weaknesses: Microsoft lacks a solid client and service support center on the internet. This is important since problems and bugs with regards to their products must be fix rapidly to attain efficiency. The lack of a customer service center would erode the integrity and quality perceived by costumers on Microsoft products. Microsoft products have compatibility issues with other hardwares and softwares manufactured by other companies. This compatibility issue would then limit the ability of the customer to buy all products made by Microsoft since it would affect the stability and performance of a computer.

Microsoft has also diversified its products. During the past years the company has ventured into fields such as game design, game developing and publishing and the production of game consoles such as the Xbox. The company has also branched out to provide free email and news services to its customers. It has also developed softwares and computer programs that is vital in organizing business spreadsheets and data. Threats: The success of Microsoft in software development has spawned other competitors to follow the footsteps of the company towards success. The primary competitor of the company in the operating systems industry is the Linux program developed by independent programmers. This program is easy to use and can be obtain free of charge. Since the company is diversifying in other fields it competes its products with the products being made by companies who have been experts in their chosen industry. The company might eventually lost its battles in making its products competitive when put side by side with products made by corporations

As per our research, we analysis that 90% of people are aware about the computers but still 10% is not aware about computers. In that 72% of people having the Apple and 28% of people having the pcs. As per our research, we analysis that 20% of people spending 1-2 hrs there time on pc because they include students n now a days pc is more important for student, 45% of people spending 2-5 hrs there time on pc because they include in services sector they are doing the work given by a company ,30% of people spending 5-8 hrs on pc and 5% of people spending 8 and above because of refreshment. In that 20% of people having the MAC operating system, 75% of people having the windows and 5% having the Linux. As per research in every 6months the new or latest technology is being introduced in the market. So, 65% of people is aware about the latest technology,5% are not aware at all and 30% may be. In that 25% prefer for new applications, 10% comparatively cheaper, 45% easy to use, and 20% for easily available.

Its dominance can be erased by other new companies in the industry due to poor designs and new technology .because of this Microsoft Can't regain their customers once lost. But it can definitely attract new buyers. for example : Apple inc has already started wiping out the dominance of Microsoft by entering in the new market segments and Technology .
