Again, what is the subject? Are you producing fruit?
Are you receiving God's blessings? Unfortunately, many
fall into the category of branches that the Husbandman
will cut off.
JOHN 15: 17-19 These things I command you, that ye
love one another. 16. If the world hate you, ye know, that
it hated Me before it hated you. 19.....1f ye were 01' the
world, the world would love his own: but because ye are
not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world,
therefore the world hateth you.
Don't expect to win any popularity contests in this
world; however, Christ gave you power over all of your
enemies. Take names, and kick dragon! Don't give Satan
any quarter! I don't ever want to hear one of you say
please to Satan. The word please means to beg, and if
you beg Satan, he has you. If you were to say, "please
Satan, leave me alone," he would laugh at you. Order
Satan out of your life in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let's
turn to II Timothy. We'll pick it up with Paul preparing
Timothy to teach God's Word successfully.
/I TIMOTHY 2: 1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in
the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
You become strong in Christ Jesus by disciplining
yourself in the Word.
/I TIMOTHY 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard
of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou
to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Don't waste your time on those that aren't interested.
Commit the things you have learned to faithful men and
women. Don't cast your pearls before swine.
/I TIMOTHY 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as
a good soldier of Jesus Christ. f1 No man that warreth
entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may
please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Every combat soldier is going to get shot at. We are
in a spiritual war. Don't get so tangled up in the affairs
of this world that you can't be standing with the gospel
armor on for God. Let's go to verse 14.
11 TIMOTHY 2:14 Of these things put them in remem­
brance, charging them before the Lord that they strive
not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of
the hearers.
The power of God converts unbelievers, not words
to no profit. When you are planting seeds, it is not
important to try to impress the unbeliever with how much
you know.
1/ TIMOTHY 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.
Rightly dividing the Word means to follow the sub­
ject. Always ask yourself who, what, when and where,
when you are studying God's Word.
II TIMOTHY 2:16-17 But shun profc:ne and vain babblings:
for they will increase unto more un'f0dliness. 1Z And their
word will eat as doth a canker: 0 whom is Hymenaeus
and Philetus;
A canker is gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus both
believed that when the flesh dies, you are dead and that
there is no resurrection.
/I TIMOTHY 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred,
saying that the resurrection is past already, and over­
throw the faith of some.
Teaching the rapture will do the same. Many will
be deceived by antichrist thinking he is Jesus come to
rapture them away.
II TIMOTHY 2:19-20 Nevertheless the foundation of God
standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them
that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name
of Christ depart from iniquity. £fQ But in a great house
there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but
also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and
some to dishonour.
In God's house, there are vessels to honour and some
to dishonour. Which are you?
II TIMOTHY 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from
these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and
meet for the Master's use, and prepared unto every
good work.
Purge yourself from those that babble and speak
nonsense.
/I TIMOTHY 2:22-23 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow
righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call
on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and
unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender
strifes.
Teachers of God's Word should avoid foolish and
unlearned questions. They cause nothing but problems
and quarrels. Find diplomatic ways to sidestep foolish
questions, and stick to the meat.
II TIMOTHY 2:24-25 And the servant of the Lord must
not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach,
patient, ~ In meekness instructing those that oppose
themselves; if God peradventure will give them repen­
tance to the acknowledging of the truth;
The word instructing in verse 25 means disciplined
education that begins at home. God takes care of the
spiritual, and parents are responsible for everything else
from the woodshed to the dining room table.
II TIMOTHY 2:26 And that they may recover themselves
out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive
by him at his will.
Don't ever say please to Satan. Practice the authority
Christ gave you over all of your enemies. Discipline
yourself in the Word of God. Produce fruit, and God
will give you whatever you need to produce more fruit.
We are all students. Practice disciplined education.
