Scholastic Aptitude Test

These scores represent the mean: the average calculated by totaling the scores and dividing by the number of scores.

Each section of the SAT Reasoning Test is scored on a scale of 200-800, and the writing section has two subscores.
One portion of the writing section is multiple-choice, and the other requires students to write an essay.
The essay is scored holistically rather than on separate traits.
The Critical Reading section was formerly known as the Verbal section and now includes short as well as long reading passage
