ReferringtoCase1ofFigure2,ifallwiresofthe7-wirestrandareofthesamediameter,

also be noted that such a pattern, with a perfect circular shape of individual wire

theouterwires(WiresB,C,D,E,FandG),alltheouterwireswillbepushedoutwardin
the radial direction from their original positions. As a result, the original nominal
diameterofthe7-wirestrandcannotbemaintained.lnordertokeeptheoriginalnominal
diameterofthestrand,alltheouterwires(WiresB,C,D,E,FandG)havetobeforced
to deform in order to fit within the area created by the original nominal diameter of the
strand. Thus, a nominal cross-sectional area of the 7-wire strand cannot be calculated
using the summation of each wire cross-sectional area as a circle. The nominal cross-
sectionalareaofa7-wirestrandistobedeterminedusingthedensityandtheweightper
unitlengthofthestrand.

For Y1860S7 G strand of the nominal diameter of 12.7mm, the weight per unit length
(1.0 meter) is 874.7 g/m. Thus, the nominal cross-sectional area of 12.7mm-dia.

For Y1860S7 G strand of the nominal diameter of 15.2mm, the weight per unit length
(1.0 meter) is 1,289.0 g/m. Thus, the nominal cross-sectional area of 15.2mm-dia.
