READING LIST FOR FIRST YEAR BA ACTORS AND DIRECTORS GROUP 51

Please find below a suggested reading list for your Stage One Acting, Movement, Voice, Singing and Analysis classes. This is a list that is intended for the whole year so you shouldnt feel obliged to buy and read all the books before the start of term. Many of the books will be in the Library and some of them you might not need until you have a relevant project to research. The books with asterixes against them are key texts and I would advise you to buy or borrow them before the start of term. Also included with this letter is your equipment list for the start of term. It is a good idea to start getting your clothes and shoes etc together in good time as once you are at school you might find your days are too full to shop in the week (even the first week). The Rehearsal Exercise you will be doing is Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw (New Mermaid Edition ISBN 9780713679977). You will need to have read the play before the start of term.
