My February trip to Kenya with a North West Community Church team was awesome!

I ve waited for several circumstances there to work out before I reported back to you the report is long, but it s hard to pack a whole week of God s goodness into just one page! First let me say thank you for your prayers and support for this trip. Your involvement in this trip is having a life changing impact in the lives of many! The Lord made it possible for me to meet with everyone I had hoped to meet during my trip. First we met Moses Ngania, the country Director for Water Missions International and Andre Mergenthaler, a German WMI Engineer. They gave us a thorough overview of WMI s approach to helping Kenyan churches and communities develop sustainable clean water sources. WMI s approach to sustainable clean water is thoroughly biblical, incredibly scientific and is committed to working with the Church for Christ s sake. They re going to make great ministry partners. (www.watermissions.org) WMI s office is on the campus of Africa Theological Seminary in Kitali. I had hoped to meet with the President of the school - Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chemengich - so I could share my vision that if we bring clean water to a village we also need to equip Pastors to equip their churches to respond biblically to the economy that will naturally spring up. The Lord made it possible for us to meet and talk at length. Dr. Chemengich quickly saw the value of that training but ATS doesn t have any such classes. He invited me to develop a curriculum and come back as a summer adjunct professor! (www.atseminary.ac.ke) Before we left to come home, I spoke with Pastors Ronald Chumum and Emmanuel Longelech who pastor not only their own church, but are responsible for many other churches. They are very excited at the possibility of seeing clean water come to the people they are so passionate to serve. They both told me that weekly, many in their flocks have to choose between gathering with the Church and walking to find water which is not clean and the supply only lasts a couple of days. Which choice would you make? Traveling home the impossible-ness of what I had seen and heard was overwhelming. Yet, the Lord has given me a this-must-and-will happen heart. While there, Pastor Chumum told me of a wetlands type area very near his church in Bendera. It has high potential as a well site but it is privately owned. We agreed together to pray that the Lord would move in the heart of the owner to give the land to the community. The clean water could dispense right next to his church site! Just this week, the owner has agreed to give the land and as I write, Chumum emailed to say that he has arranged a meeting with Moses this week to begin the WMI site assessment process! And you had a hand in this progress! More news in the days to come . Pastor Emmanuel also teaches at the West Pokot Bible College he helped start near his home. Thirty men are being equipped to serve their Churches and be more effective evangelists. The site is also a perfect place to plant a Church but there is no clean water anywhere close. The building has basins to catch the rain, but it rarely rains. There are no known hand dug wells because of the rock in the soil so a bore hole is their only hope of sustainable clean water in this area. Bole holes are 10x more costly than a hand dug well but can serve 10x more people! Please join me in praying for the resources to bring a bole hole and clean water to this strategic site. Meanwhile, Emmanuel is looking at other options such as repairing broken down pumps on existing bole holes near Church sites and other Church locations where a well can be dug. Hopefully you re beginning to feel the impossible-ness! But that s when the Lord does His very best work! My prayer is He will give you a this-must-and will-happen heart too! 2 Samuel 24:25 says, thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land and the plague was held back Think about that fact! Humble prayer moves God to act graciously toward His people! If the Lord can turn back a plague can He not also draw water through the rock to water His flocks!? Yes! And our prayers will set His grace in motion. Here are some prayer points as we go forward: (1) For the site assessment at the Bendera Church site to reveal a highly productive site and for the land transfer to the Community to be timely and without incident. (2) For Pastor Emmanuel to see the Lord s leading to either a repairable bole hole site or a site where a well can be hand dug both near a church site. (3) For me as I begin to set up Fishers as a 501c3 and develop a web site. (4) For me as I seek the Lord s will regarding developing the curriculum for ATS. (5) For the thousands of Pokot who went another day without clean water. If you have any questions please use fishersfoundation@gmail.com or call me at 919-625-6579.
