Verbs - Verbos In English, as in most languages, a verb is a part of speech which expresses an action. The following examples are verbs in their respective infinitive forms: En ingls, como en la mayora de los idiomas, los verbos son la parte de la oracin que expresa una accin. Los siguientes son todos ejemplos de verbos en su forma infinitiva:
to walk (caminar) to talk (hablar) to come (venir) to live (vivir) to eat (comer) to run (correr)
to walk (caminar) to talk (hablar) to come (venir) to live (vivir) to eat (comer) to run (correr)
Notice that all of the verbs above are preceded by the word to. In its infinitive form, a verb is said to be unlimited--It does not specify any verb tense outside of the infinitive, and it has not been adapted to agree with any subject. In this book, we will often use the infinitive form of a verb as the basis for introducing all verb tenses. For example, we can adapt, or, to be more precise, conjugate, the verb to walk in order to make it agree with an arbitrary subject she. By dropping the word "to" and adding an 's' to the stem walk, we get she walks. Of course, the infinitive form of a verb has many other uses, which will be discussed in depth later on. English verbs suffer changes (inflections) depending of the person, number, tense and mode.'
Entonces tenemos she walks (ella camina). Por supuesto, la forma infinitivo de un verbo tiene muchos otros usos, los cuales sern tratados en lecciones posteriores. Los verbos en ingls experimentan diferentes cambios (flexiones) dependiendo de la persona, el nmero, el tiempo y el modo.
