Organization's Mission The Paradigm Shift Project (PSP) aims to advance education on important issues relating to poverty, ecology, health and community development in developing countries. Through the production of documentary films and educational materials that are informed by local communities and those who work to help them, PSP works to demystify international development for the general public through education initiatives, and teach our youth how each individual can help to create positive change in our society. As PSPs Education Outreach Advisor, you will oversee and advise the organizations education outreach programming and materials, helping us to reach more schools, educators, and students. As PSPs Documentary Distribution Advisor, you will oversee and advise the organizations documentary distribution, helping us to broaden our audience online, in mainstream media, and in the community. As PSPs NGO Networking Advisor, you will help us connect and share resources with NGOs related to our areas of focus around the world. As PSPs Corporate Sponsorship & Fundraising Advisor, you will help us secure corporate partnerships, sponsorships and donations to support our work.

Authority The Board of Directors is the legal authority for The Paradigm Shift Project. As a Member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization. Requirements Requirements of Board Membership include: 1. Commitment to the mission of the organization. 2. Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, finance, programs, personnel, and advocacy. 3. Willingness to serve on committees. 4. Attendance at regularly scheduled Board meetings. 5. Attendance at meetings of assigned committees. 6. Attendance at Annual General Meetings. 7. Attendance at Membership meetings 8. Support of special events. 9. Support of, and participation in, fund raising events. 10. Annual financial support of The Paradigm Shift Project.

Responsibilities A Board Member is fully informed on organizational matters, and participates in the Board's deliberations and decisions in matters of policy, finance, programs, personnel and advocacy. He or she must: 1. Approve policy and other recommendations received from the Board, its standing committees and senior staff. 2. Monitor all Board policies. 3. Review the bylaws and policy manual, and recommend bylaw changes to the Membership. 4. Review the Board's structure, approve changes, and prepare necessary bylaw amendments. 5. Participate in the development of The Paradigm Shift Project's organizational plan and annual review. 6. Approve The Paradigm Shift Project's budget. 7. Approve the hiring and release of the executive director, including the executive director's employment contract, based on the recommendation of the Personnel Committee. 8. Support and participate in evaluating the executive director. 9. Assist in developing and maintaining positive relations among the Board, committees, staff Members, and community to enhance The Paradigm Shift Project's mission. Qualifications and Skills The candidate must have one or more of the following: 1. At least 2 years experience in the field related to the organizations mission and purpose. 2. Experience and interest in good governance and financial development. 3. Experience with strategic planning and organizational development. 4. Experience with public relations, marketing, networking and communications. Term Board Members are elected by the Membership at a Board Meeting to serve for a two-year term. Members may be released at the end of the elected term, by resigning, or according to The Paradigm Shift Projects bylaws. Time and Financial Commitments Board Members are expected to attend Board Meetings held every other month, two or three special events per year and to do committee work for a minimum of four hours per month. Members of the Board are required to contribute financially to the organization on an annual basis. Evaluation A Director's performance is evaluated annually based on the performance of assigned Board requirements and duties.
