The Position The incumbent will assist in performing traffic and turning movement counts, uploading data to a computer and creating reports. Other duties include field verifications of intersection diagrams, traffic accident analysis, delay studies, speed studies, some CAD work using AutoCAD, use of Microsoft Excel, Access and MSWord for various projects, general filing and other miscellaneous work and projects. Qualifications Area(s) of Study: Must be a current Civil Engineering student or a student in a closely related program Must have ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; have basic quantitative skills, including math, logic and statistics; knowledge of personal computer operation, including Windows, MS Office word processing, spreadsheets and database applications; map reading and interpreting basic engineering drawings. Eligibility for the State Work Study Program preferred but not required for this position. Must possess a current Washington State drivers license and driving record acceptable to the Citys insurance carrier. Schedule: Working hours are generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., but will also include am and pm peak data collection. Schedule will be flexible based on the students class schedule. Number of hours per week to be determined. Work will be limited to 17 hours per week during school attendance.
