"Just like any other kid." This statement was made by a young lady named Tiffany, but it could be echoed by thousands of other kids who are

waiting and hoping for someone to come along who will be THEIR own lifeline. Tiffany, along with 2000 other children, is a Missouri child eligible for adoption from the foster care system.

Preparing the Way is the theme that has permeated the movement of prayer ministry this year. In the last eight months this ministry of prayer has encouraged my heart. It has provided me with spiritual food for growth. It has challenged me and comforted me, and has been a great builder of faith. In planning all night meetings of Monthly Prayer Watch, I have watched that preparation unfold into answered prayers and ignited livesI expected as much. What surprised me was the permeating power of the Holy Spirit that infused the many prayer venues. With each month I thought the all night prayer meetings couldnt get any better. Then the next month would come, and it would seem sweeter that the one before. I have been amazed as the Friday morning prayer for our children has stirred up the heavenlies to bring about answers and results for our children. Morning Prayer has brought sunshine into many a dreary day, and Wednesday night prayers are the billows that blow upon the smoldering wicks to set afire the passion of the church.

The Lord keeps adding to the ministry of prayer. A couple of teams have formed to pray once every six weeks during the second service. The congregation, the pastors, and the ministry leaders of the church are brought to the altar of prayer during this time. It is a time for intercessors to stand in the gap and pray for that move of the Holy Spirit that will propel us into that new hallelujah that we so often sing about. It is from this season of prayer that Unto A Thousand Generations Prayer Conference was birthed. The vision for the conference is to provide teaching that would draw our community together, yet meet the many unique educational and doctrinal needs. It is yet another means to prepare the way, whereby we can encourage and equip the saints, and to unite as one body together in intercession for our city. The conference will be held at Camp David, September 28th and 29th. The cost is $15 per person or $25 per family, which includes lodging and meals. You can register online at http://www.eventbrite.com/ event/3804639780/efbnen or send and email to: alegacyofprayer@gmail.com. I believe this is more than a conference. It is a door to those greater things that are yet to come. -Carol Hudler

Each year the tree is not only a blessing to the church but an exciting outreach to the community. As the word spreads, we have more & more people from the community attending and giving awesome comments about the tree, the performance, and most of all, the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you are age 12 and up and love to sing, please come and be a part of this joyful ministry. We again want at least 60 singers to fill the tree. Rehearsals begin Sunday, Sept. 16, at 4:00 PM in room 107 in the lower level. There will be a signup sheet in the foyer soon. -Betty May

Holiday Baskets
Our food pantry supplies eight food baskets each month to the GRACE organization for needy families. In addition to those baskets, we have been averaging 6-8 baskets for church families and friends. Needless to say, a lot of groceries come and go out every month. We appreciate all of your contributions of both money and food items. Believe it or not, it is time to think toward Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our Thanksgiving baskets are very traditional with turkey and all the trimmings. The Christmas baskets include a ham and an assortment of food items. Some of you like to bring the items to the pantry and some of you prefer to give money. We appreciate your contributions.

Amazing Moms
Thanks to your generosity and interest in our single moms, we have a well-stocked emergency closet for them. The supplies you donated are wonderful, but your thoughtfulness is priceless. We appreciate everyone who signed on to be prayer partners for Amazing Moms children. What a blessing! Pray for them often, especially those in school. We are studying Overwhelmed: The Life of Single Moms by Jennifer Barnes Maggio, who was a single mom. Jennifer got off welfare, educated herself, succeeded in business, and answered Gods call to minister to single moms. -Rose Skyles in age from 3 years old to 17 years old. Individual children and sibling groups are included. To be eligible for adoption, the child or children are legally in the custody of the state, with parental rights terminated. To be eligible to adopt, a family must complete the state's foster care training classes (STARS) plus the additional adoption training (Spaulding classes). The next STARS classes begin in September. To register or obtain additional information, please call Lauran Mueller at 368-2436. Think of the difference you can make for the kingdom and in the heart of a child. Please prayerfully consider attending Linking Hearts, or read more about foster care and foster care adoption and see pictures of eligible children at moheartgallery.org. -Elaine Harrison

This year's youth trip to National Fine Arts in Louisville, Kentucky was a huge success. Our students did extremely well. Austin Crooks received a score of Excellent for his short sermon, and Mackynzie Adams received a score of Superior with her short sermon. E t h a n Lane also earned a Superior and was called back to the finals to receive 6th in the nation for his songwriting entry "Cast Your Burdens". Special thanks to those parents and others who came along to support our students: Clive, Patti, Macey and Michaela Adams, & Les, Alhesha and Miranda Lane, as well as Strawn Wisdom. If your student is interested in FA (a program designed to help students discover, develop and deploy their ministry gifts into the local church) please contact pastor Dalton at 573-202-4208 or pastordalton@rollafirstassembly.org. Categories include preaching, singing, musical instruments, drama, art, writing and many more. Our group practices will start in September on Sundays evenings for the next district competition in March 2013. -Dalton Avery

A special opportunity is coming up to meet some of these children. Linking Hearts is an event organized by the local Social Services office as a way for children to be blessed with some caring attention, and for families to meet children and interact with them. Children are brought to Rolla from around the state, and the local fraternities and sororities host them with fun at the Centre, and with games and food at Lions Club Park. Families are welcome to visit the park and meet the children. Last year 34 kids participated, and 40 families visited them at the park. Officials estimate that up to 25% of those children found forever families due to the event. Linking Hearts will be held Friday, September 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lions Club Park. Each year there are between 30 and 60 children come, ranging

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thess 5:11)
This month I'm really excited about two simple missions projects with which everyone in our church can get involved! I know that God is leading us to make a difference in our world. The first project is writing letters of support to our Southern Missouri District missionaries. Starting Sunday, September 2 we will be placing a preaddressed envelope in the Sunday bulletins each Missions Sunday. We will focus on writing to four of our missionaries each month, two home missionaries and two foreign missionaries. The bulletin will include a picture and background information about our missionaries of the month. We are asking that each of us write and mail at least one letter of encouragement. If you feel led to include financial support as well, feel free. Keep those people in prayer during the month as well. We will continue this project each Missions Sunday and within two years we will have written to every missionary we support! I trust the Lord will use these letters to reach far beyond what we can even imagine to touch the lost! Our second project this month is supporting Healthcare Ministies with the Rx for Change program. Last month I described this ministry and some of their upcoming trips. On Sunday, September 9 we plan to honor the individuals in our congregation who are in any way involved in healthcare occupations and we will also be passing out Rx for Change medicine bottles. We are challenging everyone to return the bottle the following Sunday with at least 28 quarters. This amount represents the amount needed to treat one individual on a Healthcare Ministries outreach. Pray for the Lord's leading to support this important ministry! I challenge each of you to find ways to integrate these missions projects into your family activities. These are tangible activities that everyone can help with. I know hearts will be touched. Blessings! -Kathi Garner

I would just like to thank all of you who help make what God has called me to do such a joy. Without your help, support and prayers, none of these things would be possible. And while Im still recovering from it all, you all are the reason I am looking forward to doing it all again next year! Most of you will never hear the stories, but know that I have had so many people tell me the impact weve had on the lives of their children, and that is what it is all about.
