PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test. It also provides a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs. This test is a co-sponsored program by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The PSAT/NMSQT measures: * critical reading skills * math problem-solving skills * writing skills Students take the PSAT/NMSQT to: * enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (juniors only) * help prepare for the SAT by becoming familiar with the SAT format * assess their mastery of the skills necessary for college-level work * receive information from colleges Religious or school related conflict with the test date: If you have a school related or religious conflict, you may be eligible to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 17 th, at Forest View Educational Center. Students are required to see Mrs. Chybicki-Zimmer in the Assessment Center to obtain approval to take the test on the alternate date. The fee and test times are the same. Students who are approved to take the test on the alternate day will be excused blocks 1 through 3 on the day of the test. You must provide your own transportation to and from Forest View Educational Center.
Students with a 504 or IEP may be eligible for accommodations. For further information, please contact Mrs. Chybicki-Zimmer in the Assessment Center.
