ESTAN ASOCIADAS CON LOS PLIEGUES, FALLAS, DIACLASAS Y FOLIACION SIRVE PARA RECONSTRUIR LA HISTORIA DE DEFORMACIN (Ejemplo: 1. rocas marinas miles de metros encima del nivel actual del mar, 2. rocas deformadas como si fueran de plastilina, 3. rocas gneas aflorando en la superficie que estaban antes en niveles ms profundos de la corteza

GEOLOGIA ESTRUCTURAL

La comprensin de las estructuras tectnicas es importante para descifrar la historia de la tierra y para nuestro bienestar econmico . Por ejemplo, la mayor parte de los yacimientos de petrleo y gas estn asociados a estructuras que atrapan los fluidos Adems las fracturas son el lugar donde se producen importantes menas minerales. Para seleccionar la ubicacin de un proyecto de construccin importante como puentes, edificios, centrales trmicas o nucleares, debe considerarse la orientacin de las fracturas que representan zonas de inestabilidad geolgica.
