About Us
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a nonprofit organization, and is the worlds leading professional association for the advancement of technology. This Student Branch (SB) is your local point of contact with the organization working to make sure that you get the most from your membership of the IEEE. Our branch at Telkom Institute of Technology was formed in June 2010 and is run by students on a voluntary basis. IEEE Institut Teknologi Telkom is active in promoting the IEEE through exciting and informative events ranging from technical seminars to careers events as well as organizing socials and site visits. We hope that these events help our members gain valuable knowledge and skills as well as being enjoyable. We expect you to benefit both personally and professionally from our current and future activities. As a branch, we always aim to provide a range of presentations, events, and activities to our members, also to bridge the gap between the student body and the professional organization. Seminar 4G
Opening the Gates to 4G Mobile
In this competitive era, technology developments have become inevitable. Various companies, particularly those engaged in the telecommunications industry are competing to bring the latest technology. Public demand and needs also become the cause of the advancement of telecommunications technology itself. If the most prestigious wireless technology currently is 3G, in 2010 it was possible to change. 3G is not necessarily still be the star. Yet another successor to the 3G technology has begun to echo sounding, especially the LTE and WiMAX II. As Keynote Speaker, M. Ary Murti, ST.,MT with the theme of the IEEE and the IEEE Development in Indonesia, Arief Hamdani, ST.,MSi with the theme of OFDMA and WiMAX II, and Ir. Kuncoro Watuwibowo, MSc regarding the introduction of 4G and LTE Participants consist of students, professional, and lecturers. Total student attend the seminar are 104 participants with 4 external students. Total lecturers attend are 23 peoples, so the total participants are 131 participants.

Based on the meeting results, the planned activities that will held is Seminar at Telkom Institute of Technology student hall, which titled Opening the Gates to 4G Mobile: LTE and WiMAX II, which is scheduled to be held on 13 February 2010 and merged with the Public Lecture.

Training LTE
Full Day High Level Training LTE (Long Term Evolution)
LTE is a new name from high capability service in mobile communication systems. LTE is a new step toward 4G from radio technology, which is planed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile telephone network. Where the previous generation knows as 3G and LTE as 4G. This activity held at Swiss-Inn Batam Hotel, Batam with the theme of LTE Training, which was planned to be held in July 30th, 2010. As Keynote speaker, Arief Hamdani, ST.,MSi with the theme of LTE training.Participants consist of 2 IT Telkom students, 1 professional from Depkominfo and 4 lecturer. Therefore total participants in this training are 7 participants.

Journal Review
In bridging the professional level and student level and to keep updated on the latest technology, IEEE Student Branch will regularly do the weekly journal review. Each member will have the chance to choose their favorite topics and then pick one of the journal from IEEE journals archive, explore it and then present it in the journal review meeting. Hereby, the other members can easily catch up the latest information updated. The purpose of reviewing journal regularly also towarding the schematic and well grammatically writing. In IEEE Institut Teknologi Telkom Student Branch, most of the students are familiar with English but not well understand how to write English journal, especially scientific journal. As the member, by joining journals review activity, you will get used to read English journal and together the member will be able to present their research result into scientific writing format.

Gathering
Dinner IEEE Institut Teknologi Telkom

In IEEE, the member will not only gain knowledge and updates information but also family. We realize that working together might increase the social value of each member. In order to generate it, IEEE Student Branch will regularly meet and filled up in fun activities to just feel the warmness of the family. The gathering mostly filled by dinner, or watching movies or visiting interested places. Those activities will welcome you more and linearly after knowing each other well, the member able to work together as a good teammates.

Indonesia Wireless Forum

Spectrum, IMT, and Convergence Updates
The number of mobile subscribers is increasing and it is predicted that by the year 2020, mobile devices will be widely popular across the world [ITU05]. Thus the need arises for enhanced data rates to accommodate these users and to serve the everevolving high-speed mobile services. International Mobile Telecommunication-Advanced (IMTAdvanced) is an evolving standard by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) that aims to provide the above mentioned aspects. It also promises seamless mobility making the network ubiquitous and many more features such as high quality mobile services, worldwide roaming, low cost services and applications across fixed as well as wireless network and compatibility. We are trying to make similar event with APT Wireless Forum (AWF), which has been held by APT in Soul, Korea in 13-16 September 2010. The activity is Activities on IMT in APT Wireless Forum and Views on IMT from Developing Countries in APT Region. Event structure then planned based on reference from APT Wireless Forum, as mentioned: 1. Share and discuss radio technology information, support research, developing and promoting telecommunication business within Asia-Pacific area in order to grow digital convergences 2. Right path in discussing and learning several spectrum methodologies, harmonization spectrum and suggestion for specific countries in band frequency channel planning 3. Develop solutions in technical rules and radio based on conventional wireless technology including satellite technology to meet the need of APT

The World in Your Hand

4. Resulting possible recommendations Purposes of this activity are to promote latest wireless applications; as a value added and not duplicating other APT program, and also to cooperate with other APT programs in promoting harmonization vision of wireless communication system and services in Asia Pacific region to meet digital convergence era; to provide effective fund and time efficiency in radio communication; and to facilitate technology transfer. Based on IEEE Indonesia Section and PT Telkom, it was planned to hold Forum activity in Meeting Room N-21, Telkom RDC Main Building, Gegerkalong Hilir Street no 47 Bandung with the title of Spectrum, IMT, and Convergence Updates, which was planned to be hold in 24 September 2010. Welcoming speech and immediately followed remarks by SGM RDC Telkom, Mustafa Wangsaatmadja. Participants attend this meeting are 31 participants consist by 9 students, 21 Telkom employees, and 1 lecturer of Telkom Institute of Technology. As a Keynote speaker Arief Hamdani, ST.,MSi deliver and share about Spectrum Working Group; IMT Working Group (especially IMT-Advanced); and Convergence Working Group. Ir. Kuncoro Wastuwibowo, MSc Introduction to IEEE and IEEE Indonesia Section
