CATHOLIC SOCIAL JUSTICE

Greeters Ministry
Help greet people arriving for Mass at the front entrance to our church. It's fun, it's an expression of your love, it's rewarding, it's unity, it's belonging, it's familiarity, and it requires very little of your time. You can choose any Mass convenient for you. Please contact Larry Parker: 800-799-1119 or larryparker2020@gmail.com

Our Churchs teaching exhorts us to respect human life in all its stages, and in all circumstances. As Catholics, we combine our prolife and social justice convictions in defense of human life and we proclaim that the penalty of death is never the answer to a difficult pregnancy, a prolonged illness or a violent crime. (Tom Grenchick, Executive Director, USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities)
Join the Catholic Social Justice Ministry in a Prayer Night for Life on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 7:00PM, in the Church, as we pray to hold firm in our Churchs unconditionally pro-life teaching and its application to capital punishment.

HAVE YOU BEGUN TO READ THE BIBLE ONLY TO STOP IN DISINTEREST? If you have ever wanted to read the Bible, but stopped in frustration or confusion, then The Bible Timeline study is for you. This study makes reading the Bible not only easy, but even exciting. Often the problem with reading the Bible is that it was not written as a linear story. So, when people start to read it, they quickly lose the narrative thread. Not any more, thanks to The Bible Timeline. In this Study, you will learn the major people, places, events and themes of the Bible--getting the big picture of salvation history. Perhaps for the first time in your life, you will understand the overview of the Bible story. This then makes your Bible reading and even the Sunday mass readings come alive like never before. The Bible Timeline study will be offered at St. Edward on two days: Tuesday mornings, beginning Sept. 18, in Knight Hall, OR Wednesday evenings, beginning Sept. 26, in the school lower lunchroom. Registration: Sept. 9 and 16, after Masses. To learn more, call 496-6011(Faith Formation Office), or stedward.com/faithformation.

ABORTIONS UP PREMATURE BIRTH RISK 34% A new study conducted in the United Kingdom finds women who have abortions are 34 percent more likely to deliver a baby prematurely when they become pregnant the next time and to suffer from other pregnancy complications. Sohinee Bhattacharya, who led the research at the University of Aberdeen, examined more than 1 million pregnancies in Scotland over 26 years and he found that women who have one abortion increase their risk of
premature birth in a subsequent pregnancy 34 percent. Women who have a historic risk of giving birth prematurely up that risk another 73 percent when they have an abortion.

Is committed to encouraging women of all ages to grow spiritually, emotionally, and in relationships. Shirley Filadelfia 496-1307 Your mind must be renewed by a spiritual revolution so you can put on a new self that has been created in Gods way, in the goodness and holiness of truth.(Eph. 4:24-25) We welcome all who would like to join us. STRIVE TO BE A SAINT! Come meet with Idente Missionaries and learn how you can answer our Heavenly Father's call to "Be holy, as I, your Father, am holy."(Mt 5:48) We meet first Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. For ages 18 - 120.
