Grupo Corteel is one of Europes top fashion chain retailers operating the Corteel, Pedro del Hierro, Springeld and Women's Secret brands and also running Fifty Factory, a chain of outlet stores. With a central administration and a network of logistics centers in Madrid, the company has international buying oces in Spain, Hong Kong and India. Founded in Madrid in 1880, today Corteel operates in 64 countries, with over 1,700 points of sale an online catalogue and over U.S. $2 billion in sales. Major competitors include Inditex (Zara) and Mango.

Challenge Prior to implementing the CBX solution, Grupo Corteel had no system. Critical supplier information was held in dierent places and each department, such as womens, mens and intimate wear, worked with spreadsheets and followed separate workows. Management of supplier agreements was not well organized and Corteel needed a way to automatically bring new suppliers onboard. There was no way of seeing the critical path which made management and tracking of the thousands of styles, orders and shipments extremely complex. The workow was more complex with multiple sourcing oces in dierent regions.

Solution Grupo Corteel decided to implement an integrated supply chain system to handle supplier management, order tracking, and quality management. The system needed to homogenize sourcing and order follow-up processes. Core Solutions CBX Enterprise system was chosen since it had ready built modules which could handle all of Corteels specic supplier, sourcing, order and quality needs in addition to providing full visibility into their entire supply chain through the CBX Critical Path Management tool. CBX was easily adaptable to Corteels existing system and the intuitive interface allowed users to quickly adopt the web based tool. The system provided Corteel with advanced forecasting, planning and alerts of potential risks and the ability to drill down to identify the source of problems.

We needed a proven system to help us scale our global sourcing operation and handle some of the most intricate facets of our business and we had a very positive experience with CORE. The solution that CORE delivered showed they truly understand apparel sourcing and its immense complexities.

Full visibility into the sourcing progress was achieved and a greater ability to manage technical style specications. Supplier management was much improved with the system able to report on work in progress status and capture data from suppliers to be uploaded into the system.
