PSCAL changes name to Civica

Civica rebrands healthcare finance specialist to reflect integrated health business

London, 6 September 2011 - Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations to achieve a more cost-efficient way of working, announces that group company PSCAL - the leading supplier of commissioning, contract and costing software for the NHS - has adopted the Civica brand name following its integration into the groups specialist health and social care business. The acquisition of PSCAL in May this year has extended the capabilities of Civicas Health & Social Care division. The expansion will help enable NHS and other health care customers to fully optimise their allocated resources to improve patient care outcomes and drive through cost efficiencies. The business unit is continuing to see growing customer interest in systems innovation during structural NHS reforms and the adoption of more comprehensive and responsive management information tools across the health sector. In particular, the business will be developing its portfolio of systems and services for simplifying and automating NHS costing and commissioning processes as well as delivering integrated patient administration records and intelligent document management across multiple organisations and partners. Latest contract wins include patient level costing and service line reporting systems for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust as well as commissioning and claims validation tools for NHS Leeds and NHS North East Essex. These successes add to Civicas extensive health and social care customer base which comprises more than 250 NHS organisations. David Roots, director for health & social care at Civica, said: Our integrated health care capabilities will meet the increasing demand for optimal commissioning and costing processes at a time of organisational change and budgetary constraints. We will continue to build on the excellent track record established over many years and provide the stability to help customers through a period of change. Individual NHS organisations are under unprecedented pressure to deliver improved health care outcomes based on better patient care, optimised resources and cost efficient operations. The ability to draw on streamlined and automated financial management and commissioning processes that are scalable to changing workloads, will become the foundation for realising these goals. Mike Singer, director at PSCAL, said: Since PSCAL was acquired by Civica in May, we have benefited in a number of areas, including joint opportunities and enhanced

scope to deliver integrated commissioning, financial and information systems. The integrated health care business is an exciting development, providing a stronger business and a broad capability ranging from market-leading systems and consultancy to managed services infrastructure.
