About our Forum

Mechatronics is the combination of Mechanical engineering, Electronic engineering, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Control engineering, and Systems Design engineering in order to design, and manufacture useful products. Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of engineering, that is to say it rejects splitting engineering into separate disciplines. Originally, Mechatronics just included the combination between mechanics and electronics, hence the word is only the portmanteau of mechanics and electronics coined by Tetsuro Mori, the senior engineer of the Japanese company Yaskawa in 1969. However, as technical systems have become more and more complex the word has been "updated" during recent years to include more technical areas. A Mechatronics engineer unites the principles of mechanics, electronics, and computing to generate a simpler, more economical and reliable system. French standard NF E 01-010 gives the following definition:
"Approach aiming at the synergistic integration of mechanics, electronics, control theory, and computer science within product design and manufacturing, in order to improve and/or optimize its functionality."

Renaissance (An Automation Symposium)

The word "Renaissance" is often referred to as the tanscendental resurgence of culture, science, skills, or learning. Since, Mechatronics is nothing less than a revolution in the fields of engineering and technology, our forum is named as 'Renaissance'. It is our Automation Symposium or Forum held at our college, Acharya Institute of Technology, every semester.
About our logo

The logo depicts a robotic hand disengaged to reach all realms of technology. The wings represent the expertise Mechatronics engineers possess in every field. The rays in the background signify the plethora of true scientific knowledge. The machine wheel encircling the entire logo, signifies automation.

Some facts
Engineering cybernetics deals with the question of control engineering of mechatronic systems. An Industrial robot is a prime example of a mechatronics system; it includes aspects of electronics, mechanics, and computing to do its day-to-day jobs.

Present day automotive, aerospace, medical, xerography, defense, consumer, manufacturing, material processing and domestic industries worldwide have been keen in developing newer products, integrating mechanical, electronic and control systems. Thisarduous task requires skillful and competent engineers having profound knowledge and understanding of such systems and their integration. Hence, Mechatronics engineers have ample bright career opportunities.
