FIRS SEMESTER FINAL EXAMINATIONS
January, 2009

This notice is for the information of students and parents regarding the 1st semester final examinations. Please
read it carefully and retain for future reference.

1. Each morning before you write your exam, turn in your textbook to your teacher in the room where you
had your class or in an alternative room designated by your teacher. Find out from your teachers today
where they will collect texts. Remember, you will not receive second semester texts until all first texts are
returned.

2. Please see the schedule for the dates and times of the January final examinations. Know when each of your
exams is to be written. IF YOU HAVE NO EXAM ON A GIVEN DAY, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO
BE AT SCHOOL. IF YOU DO OPT TO COME IN, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO BE ENGAGED IN
RESEARCH OR QUIET STUDY.

3. ABSENCE FROM AN EXAMINATION MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF THE CREDIT

The only exception to this is absence due to serious illness or accident supported by a medical certificate
from a doctor. Please contact the school to let us know that the absence is due to illness and phone your
doctor.

Absence due to oversleeping, forgetfulness, missed bus or other similar reason will not be accepted. It is
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be here for the examination. In case of an emergency which you believe will
cause you to miss an examination, CALL THE SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY. We will attempt to assist you
where possible.

EXAMINATION ROOM

4. PLEASE turn off the alarms on your watches. These are distracting. Absolutely no cellular phones or other
personal listening devices are permitted in the exam room.

5. Once seated in the gym, we will begin with Oh Canada and Prayer. There is NO TALKING or
COMMUNICATING beyond this point . If you require anything during an examination, put up your hand
and wait until the teacher comes to you. TALKING/COMMUNICATING IN THE EXAMINATION
ROOM IS A SERIOUS MATTER.

6. You may not bring any coats, bookbags or other items into the examination room that are not essential to
writing the exam.

7. When you are finished writing your examination and have carefully checked it over, simply turn it over
face down on your desk.

Students are required to remain in the examination room for a minimum of one hour. Students may leave
after one hour but are to maintain ABSOLUTE SILENCE so as not to disturb those still writing.

Upon leaving the examination room, students are dismissed for the remainder of the day.
Students choosing to stay in the school after an exam are required to use the Library or Cafeteria
for quiet study. You may not “hang around” outside near the building, in the hallways after exams.

8. Morning exams begin at 9:00 SHARP. Afternoon exams begin at 12:30 SHARP. A warning bell will
ring 10 minutes before the exam begins.
