Aegir-18R
The Aegir-18R design belongs to the Aegir family ofdesigns for double-hulled, environmentally-responsiblenaval fleet support vessels.
 A key feature of Aegir-18R is its capability to carry and effectivelydeliver both wet and dry stores at sea, making it a cost-effectiveand convenient ‘one stop shop’. BMT has reduced the programme, financial and technical risks of acquiring new double-hulled fleet support ships by drawing on Skipskonsulent’s commercial design heritage. The Aegir-18Ris designed for ease of construction and maintenance as wellas affording the flexibility for owner’s enhancements tomeet specific needs. Independent Norwegian commercial tanker designer Skipskonsulent and navaldesign experts BMT Defence Services have teamed to offer navies the Aegirdesign family, an environmentally-responsible, affordable and low-riskreplenishment at sea capability in purpose-designed new-build vessels.The Aegir twin skeg hull-form is based on a proven commercial design extendingdouble-hull protection to bunkers as well as cargo tanks and holds. It is alsocapable of handling warships’ waste water discharges responsibly.The Aegir design is scalable and flexible; Aegir-18R represents a mid-size fleetsupport ship (Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment; AOR) variant of the design family.The commercial design rules applied to the Aegir family ensure local shipyardsare able to build and support Aegir vessels.
