8/9/012 Mr. James Saunders Regional Head, South Asia FUNDSFORNGOS, LLC 866 United Nations Plaza Suite 437, New York, NY 10017 United States of America STREET CHILD CARE WELFARE INITATIVE PROJECT Respected Sir, MBA students of Novel Academy, Purbanchal University, Nepal are pleased to present this proposal for your review. We look forward to partnership with you for prevention, risk reduction and social rehabitation of street child in Pokhara, Nepal. Pokhara has around 100 street kids facing multiple forms of danger and abuse every day. The objective of the project is to reduce danger of street life, provide a platform for those kids to reestablish them in the society and provide basic needs such as food, clothes, shelter and education. This project will provide street children with learning centre with hostel facility, vocational trainings, and sport trainings. We are seeking to start our project from Mahendrapul (central market in Pokhara) and gradually expand to other major locations such as Lakeside and Prithvichowk. Our proposal requests $11315 in funding to hire a hostel building and setup basic learning centre equipped with latest learning materials. We have seen FUNDSFORNGOS helping several projects globally for helping street kids. We expect the same for our project. For any further information concerning this proposal please contact us through mail or can give us a call. Thank you, 1St Semester Students Novel Academy Pokhara, Nepal +9779846033274 +97761535629

Helping the street kids rebuild their life Project Abstract

Students from Novel academy are seeking grant to help street children for food, shelter and education. Every year hundreds of kids, attracted by allure of Big City, leave their villages. Once there, they discover the harsh realities of life in the streets and are left on their own to face multiple forms of danger and abuse (moral, sexual and physical). Students group from Novel Academy are planning a hostel for those kids where they receive good facilities of food, shelter and education. The objective is that there will be drastically reduced no of street kids in Pokhara by end of six months period and almost no street kids by end of a year period. If these kids are not helped then they might end up in some criminal activities, drug addiction and so on. These kids are future of country hence need to be taken care on time.

Program Description
The project can be divided into three phases
1.

Prevention prevent and, if possible, avoid the arrival of the child in the street Create awareness among general public, the families and the children themselves on the realities of life in the Street (its causes, its daily routines and its consequences). The reasons which lead children to the street are multiple and complex: socio-economic conditions in the village, disintegration of the family cell (often associated with alcohol), domestic violence, the attraction of the city, political instability, friends pressure, etc. It is often within the interaction of all these factors (economic, political and social) that the real reasons are to be found. Each group of people crossing the path of these children is more or less part of one of these causes (departure to the street or willingness to stay there). Similarly, once in the streets, children interact with different stakeholders: shop keepers, police officers, tourists and the general public. They are frequently not well informed about street children so they consider them as third class society members. Thus, the lack of awareness further increases the marginalization process by putting those children on the banks of the society. Risk Reduction Short term perspective focusing on immediate reduction of the dangers of street life. The first step towards the rehabilitation and reintegration of street children involves risk reduction, which is comprised of short-term actions to reduce the dangers of street life. It is a fact that the shelters exist neither to store the children nor to leave them in their condition. Nevertheless, we are convinced that the shelters, in Nepal like elsewhere, can be a place of continued learning, of informal or technical education, of civic rights and duty

2.

training, a place of welcome, of listening, a place where to rest, to get food and a possible bridge to a reinsertion into the family and school. Working on "risk reduction" certainly takes makes much sense in Nepal, if we consider a simple but terrible fact: more than 30% of the street children will remain on the street and more than 40% of the remaining children will join society at a low or very low social level. It is important to give the children simple but necessary tools permitting them to survive and even to live in an environment that will never be easy. To learn how to read, to write, to count, to be aware of their rights, to know what the society means by good and wrong, to be able to live with other people, to avoid drugs, prostitution, alcoholism, violence To have an access to medical care, some basis of hygiene, self-respect, to have a warm place where to sleep and get food: these are the educative and practical components that we must provide with each child.

3.

Social Rehabilitation This program gets education and socialization together by means of arts and sports in order to make the childs abilities stand out and push him to believe in himself. After years spent in the street, the challenge is to provide the child with a suitable environment, far from the street, which allows him to progressively get closer to society. Theater, music, dance and singing give the children opportunities to talk about themselves, about what they experienced, about work, drugs, suffering, coldness, the stink of the rubbish dumps. Allowing them to express their experience is also allowing them to consider a more serene future. We also make them practice sports. Through a general collective effort, the child learns how to elaborate a strategy with other children. Physical effort is also a good means to release intern violence that is sometimes hard to control.

The children will be accommodated in room facilitated with double twin bed, table and chairs. They will be provided with breakfast in morning, lunch during day and dinner in the evening. There will be a computer lab, a sports ground at the backyard of the building. A two storage building with 10 rooms will be taken in lease. It will be extended if no of children rises and will be shifted to buildings with more no of rooms. They will be provided with all new set of cloths, pair of shoes, reading materials. They will be allowed to choose vocational training of their choice to explore their hidden skills such as painting, dancing, singing etc. Special group of volunteers will be provided for students to provide both vocational and non-vocational trainings. There will be volunteers from Novel Academy. They will be provided with regular health checkup from volunteers from medical colleges. Following is expected from the volunteer:

To help the children during classes and with their homework (for the schooling boys and girls) ; To help in the kitchen or with domestic chores ; To organize cultural, artistic or sports activities ; If necessary, to help with administrative tasks
