Suited for every use

You can optimally plan every swimming pool with GEA CAIRfricostar
Comfortable private swimming pools, hotel pools, wellness and therapy facilities, or public halls and adventure pools: GEA CAIRfricostar air handling units are optimally suited for every application and work in recirculated air or mixed air operating mode. Regulated share fraction of fresh air in connection with various heat recovery systems with a heat recovery quantity of up to 82% keeps your operating costs within bounds. Features with or without heat pump Depending on the application, the units of the GEA CAIRfricostar range of models offer heat recovery with additional heatpump circuitry as well as heat recovery without additional heatpump circuitry. Units with heat recovery and heat-pump circuitry represent the synthesis of efficacy and air quality. Swimming pool exhaust air drying and fresh air pre-warming, paired with optimised compressor output, lead to low heating costs and save valuable energy. Units with heat recovery but without heat-pump circuit are fundamentally employed for small water surfaces in proportion to a large hall volume. Low maintenance costs and a small investment volume are further arguments for this equipment version. Corrosion protection for long equipment life The cold-bridge-free design of the GEA CAIRfricostar units prevents water formation by condensation and ensures long equipment life. Furthermore, all units can be delivered in three corrosion protection classes: Corrosion protection class K: standard version for use in normal swimming pools Corrosion protection class H: enhanced version for increased requirements in chlorine or saline air (sea water and brine baths up to 3% brine) Corrosion protection class P: top version for very high requirements in aggressive environments such as thermal spas and for salt contents of more than 3%
In addition to our modular units, GEA Fricostar Micro offers a compact and ready-to-install swimming pool hall climate-control unit with smaller dimensions

Broad performance and geometry spectrum For air volumes of 750 to 45,000 m3/h Performance ratings available for all pool areas Variable equipment design permits individual configuration of empty and filter chambers, doors, sound absorbers, service openings and the like Easy cleaning, servicing, and inspection due to equipment design with completely smooth inner surfaces and hinges and sash fasteners that lie outside the airflow Deliverable in various corrosion protection classes Cold-bridge-free design with quality components

GEA CAIRfricostar CAU was primarily conceived for private swimming pools and is deliverable in four sizes as well as for an air volume flow of 750 to 4,100 m/h. The unit dehumidifies and heats the swimming pool in recirculated-air operation. It is delivered with an all-electronic control which automatically regulates the functions of the facility. In recirculated-air operation without dehumidification, the air in the swimming pool hall is circulated. When the target humidity is exceeded, the multi-function hygrostat installed in the hall switches the facility into dehumidification operation. The fan is then switched to level two and the refrigeration system for dehumidification is started. The dehumidification procedure runs until the target humidity is achieved, then the fan switches back to level one and the compressor in the dehumidifying plant stops. With an optional pool water condenser, a part of the obtained surplus energy from the heat pump circuit can be transferred to the pool water or an equivalent cycle.

Mixed air dehumidification unit with heat pump

GEA CAIRfricostar CMP

GEA CAIRfricostar CMP was conceived for private and public high-performance swimming pools of all kinds. The range of models can be delivered for an air volume flow of 750 up to 37,500 m/h. The unit dehumidifies and heats the swimming pool hall in a mixed air operating mode. Apart from a heat pump plant, this unit type is additionally equipped with a highly efficient heat recovery system (efficiency 82%) by means of double-plate heat exchanger (ECOPLAT 2 POWER PLATE). It is delivered with a DDC unit and controls all functions of the plant fully automatically. When the swimming pool is being used, the outside and exhaust air flap of the unit opens and the recirculating air flap regulates the mixed air share with the DDC. For dehumidification, the refrigeration system is started and both fans are switched to level two. A part of the obtained surplus energy of the refrigeration system can be released to the pool water with an optional pool water condenser.

Advantages of GEA CAIRfricostar CMP: Multi-stage high-performance heat recovery with two high-performance heat exchangers and heat pump Low operating costs Performance ratings for all pool areas

GEA CAIRfricostar CPP

Mixed air dehumidification unit with heat pump

GEA CAIRfricostar CPP was conceived for private and public high-performance swimming pools of all kinds and can be delivered for an air volume flow of 750 to up to 37,500 m/h. The unit works in the mixed air operating mode. A special characteristic is its reversible heat-pump circuit. In the summer, the cooling cycle of the swimming pool can be reversed for excess temperatures to cool the supply air. The DDC control thus monitors the supply air temperature in order to regulate the swimming pool temperature to the pre-set standard value, and selects the most favourable operating state. The unit is equipped with a highly efficient heat recovery system by means of double plate heat exchanger (ECOPLAT 2 POWER PLATE). When the swimming pool is in use, the outside and exhaust air flap of the unit opens and the recirculating air flap regulates the mixed air share with the DDC. For dehumidification, the refrigeration system starts and both fans are switched to level two. A part of the obtained surplus energy of the refrigeration system can be released to the pool water with the optional pool water condenser.

GEA Fricostar Micro CAC

Compact climate-control unit with heat pump

GEA Fricostar Micro CAC was developed for small private and public swimming pools, i.e., in hotel and therapeutic baths, and can be delivered in two model sizes as well as three performance ratings. Owing to its compact dimensions and the special positioning of the connection fittings, the unit is especially suited for installation in small technical rooms. Apart from a heat pump plant, it is equipped with an efficient heat recovery system (ECOPLAT POWER PLATE heat exchanger) and an intelligent DDC unit. When the swimming pool is in use with dehumidification, the warm swimming pool hall exhaust air is cooled down in the plate heat exchanger and dehumidified in the evaporator. A part of the dried swimming pool hall air is now supplied to the fresh air with the mixed air flaps, pre-warmed in the plate exchanger, warmed further in the condenser, and made available to the swimming pool hall with the fresh air fans. If necessary, the supply air is warmed to the final temperature with the post-heating register in order to reach the desired swimming pool temperature.

Compact climate-control unit without heat pump

GEA Fricostar Micro CWC

GEA Fricostar Micro CWC was developed for small private and public swimming pools, i.e., hotel and therapeutic baths, and can be delivered in two sizes. Owing to its compact dimensions and the special position of the connection fittings, it is especially suitable for small technical rooms. The unit is equipped with an efficient heat recovery (ECOPLAT POWER PLATE heat exchanger) and a DDC unit. When the swimming pool is in use with dehumidification, the warm swimming pool hall exhaust air is cooled down in the plate heat exchanger. A part of the swimming pool hall air is supplied by the mixed-air flaps to the fresh air. The fresh air is pre-warmed in the plate exchanger and made available by the fresh air fans of the swimming pool hall. If necessary, the supply air is further warmed with the after-heating register in order to reach the desired swimming pool hall temperature.

Advantages of GEA Fricostar Micro CWC: Compact unit dimensions Advantageous fittings position, simpler connection Heat recovery Low investment Low maintenance costs

GEA open- and closed-loop control technology

Intelligent control technology for optimal operation

All GEA air handling units for swimming pool hall climate control and dehumidification possess a uniform and intelligent control for energy-optimised and demand-controlled operation Simple and rapid commissioning of the software The software is loaded in the factory and preset as required. Onsite commissioning therefore takes place considerably faster because only the relevant functions for the respective execution appear in the display. All-electronic control for the unit type CAU The electronic system controls the functions of the plant. The permissible humidity limit value is transferred to the control with a hygrostat located in the swimming pool hall with function displays and switch. If the limit value is exceeded, the deGEA open- and closed-loop control system Consisting of a separate switching cabinet for extensions or separate installation (depending on unit sizes) with all components necessary for the monitoring and control of the unit, wired according to VDE standards IP55: electrical connections (by screw or terminal plugs) between switching cabinet and unit by prepared lines ready-to-install Electrical installation for the voltage supply for mixing valve actuation and after-heating pump If necessary, exit for pool water pump, outdoor sensor and further options such as external switch function inputs provided by customer on site The switching cabinet is delivered freestanding including mounting materials for attachment to the unit or as a standing cabinet (dependent on the type of equipment) All electronic monitoring and control components are easily exchanged DDC control for all other unit types Sophisticated DDC control automatically determines the most favourable method of operation and supports the economical operation of the air handling plant. In intermittent standby operation, the unit switches on or off in a predetermined cycle in order to save energy and reduce noise emission. Free night cooling and intermittent standby operation round off the range of functions. All units can be operated on location, or if required from a central control station. An optional modem permits remote system checks. Interfaces to all prominent building management systems present no problem for GEA CAIRfricostar and GEA Fricostar Micro. Systems such as BACnet, LON, MOD, EIB, PROFIBUS, OPC, OSPA Blue Control, and Internet or SMS communication can be easily connected. humidification is initiated, the fan starts, and the compressor equipment runs. If the air humidity falls below the preset value, then the compressor stops again. The surplus heat gained from the dehumidification procedure can be made available to the swimming pool hall air and, provided a pool water condenser is installed, to the pool water as well. The control automatically monitors the cooling cycle of the system with a security chain. With the remote control in the swimming pool hall, the hygrostat can adjust the humidity, a master switch switches the plant on or off, and LEDs inform on the operating state.
