Lifestyle evangelism in the New Testament worked through relationships that had already been established. The gospel moves on contiguous lines - on lines of relationship. God holds us responsible for everyone He brings into our sphere of influence. Many people focus on circle 7 because they don't want to deal with ruptured relationships. If we do not tell people in circles 2-6 about the Lord, we are hypocritical. If our relationship with the Lord is authentic, we want to share the good news of Christ with those closest to us as much as we do with strangers. 2

If there is a ruptured relationships between you and those in your concentric circles, there will be rupture of the flow of the Holy Spirit through your life. Jesus taught us to confess wrong relationships and make them right before coming to worship the Father. We must be reconciled with others to be right with God.
Matthew 5:23-24 So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

At the beginning of Jesus' ministry, He began to choose disciples to follow Him. Andrew was the first. When Andrew met Jesus (the Messiah), he introduced his brother Simon (later named Peter) to Jesus. Peter became one of the great leaders of the early church and wrote two books of the New Testament. What a contribution Andrew made to the Kingdom! He carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to someone in his immediate family through a relationship.

John 1:35-42
Again the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, Look! The Lamb of God! The two disciples heard him say this and followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and noticed them following Him, He asked them, What are you looking for? They said to Him, Rabbi (which means Teacher), where are You staying? Come and youll see, He replied. So they went and saw where He was staying, and they stayed with Him that day. It was about 10 in the morning. Andrew, Simon Peters brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed Him. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, We have found the Messiah! (which means Anointed One), and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, He said, You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas (which means Rock).

Philip met Jesus and responded to His invitation to follow Him. He then went to Nathanael and brought his friend to meet Jesus. When Nathanael met met Jesus, he acknowledged that He must be the Son of God and the King of Israel. Many believe Nathanael is the same person who is called Bartholomew in the other three Gospels. Philip and Nathanel became 2 of the 12 disciples of Jesus chose to be His closest companions. Philip carried the good news of Jesus through a relationship to his friend and both of their lives were changed forever. John 1:43-51 (Philip and Nathanael)
The next day He decided to leave for Galilee. Jesus found Philip and told him, Follow Me! Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the hometown of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and told him, We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law (and so did the prophets): Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth! Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Nathanael asked him. Come and see, Philip answered. Then Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and said about him, Here is a true Israelite; no deceit is in him. How do you know me? Nathanael asked. Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you, Jesus answered.

Rabbi, Nathanael replied, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! Jesus responded to him, Do you believe only because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this. Then He said, I assure you: You will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.

Once Jesus took His disciples on a journey through Samaria (a place most Jews avoided because of their prejudice). Beside the well at Sycar, Jesus introduced a woman to Himself as the Christ (Messiah) and as the Living Water. She believed Him and immediately hurried back to town to share the good news with her neighbours and relatives. After only two days with Jesus, many believed in Him. One woman touched the whole city for Christ. John 4:28-30, 39-42
Then the woman left her water jar, went into town, and told the men, Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah? They left the town and made their way to Him. " Now many Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of what the woman said when she testified, He told me everything I ever did. Therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days. Many more believed because of what He said. And they told the woman, We no longer believe because of what you said, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this really is the Savior of the world.
