Color Wheel and Its Importance

Color is used in variety of concepts, definitions and applications. However, it ends up with three basic types of color theory namely: color harmony, color wheel and its meanings. Through proper arrangement, we can classify a group according to their hues and we can correlate relationships among them. For example, we can group together all yellow fruits, green fruits and red fruits as based on their hues. Colorwheel or Color Circle is the conceptual illustrative organization of color. It illustrates the relationships among primary, secondary, and complementary hues. It is founded on the main principle of the basic colors red, blue and yellow which have been the basis of Arts foundation. In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton proposed the first diagram of colors. Since then myriads of artists and scientists revealed various studies on color meanings. Its design offers a visual understanding of the theory, and assists many interior designers, painters, illustrators and other artists to have creative work that can influence on the visual and mood of every onlooker. The wheel is also very useful for mixing paints. It allows the user to understand and know how colors will be mixed to create different hue and liveliness. In the circular wheel, primary are composed of red, yellow and blue. They are primarily used in paintings and pigments. Since these hues are fundamental, they cannot be combined or mixed with other colors. They are also the original sources where other colors came from. Secondary on the other hand pertains to green, orange and purple. They are produced by combining the primary hues. Tertiary shades include yellow-green, red-purple, Yellow-orange, blue-purple, blue-green and red-orange, and formed by mixing the primary and secondary. With harmony, any color, music, poetry or anything portrays a pleasant outcome. But when it comes to Arts, it pertains to something which is pleasurable to the eyes. Because of this, it can call the attention of the viewer and can produce a sense of classification making them appear balance and organized. A color harmony therefore can be created based on analogous and complimentary shades and nature. In the wheel, color schemes are the rational arrangement of hues. They help create appeal and style. Arts have never been the same since the introduction of color theory. The color circle enables many to understand how to carefully use the hues in everyday lives whether it is in Art, architecture and design or in simple classification of objects around us. Color wheel is a circular graph which is used to illustrate the relationships among colors. It has varied applications and is used by painters, interior designers, illustrators and other artists to create work that can influence mood and vision. Today, they have extended been use in the modern architecture and Arts.
