THE SCHOOL OF TRUTH LECTURE ACCEPTING THE NEW Nicol C.

Campbell The School of Truth Lecture given in June, 1982, Rosebank, South Africa Source p. 133, June / July 2003 - The Path of Truth "The old has passed away, behold the new has come." Is Paul's great declaration true, or is it wishful thinking? We who have worked with God for many years, and have tested Him through every type of problem, carry a great responsibility to answer, and to answer plainly. People can learn to put on a convincing show but, if they do not know that what they say is Truth, it all amounts to nothing. Wor se, to put it rather vulgarly, they are leading those who come to them up the ga rden path. Playing with human lives, trading on their desire to get out of poverty, or sick ness, or unhappiness, is criminal. I have no choice. I say to God's presence "I prove You now herewith that You open the windows of my consciousness and reveal to me the Truth of Yourself, as the Individuality that constitutes me. I want to know the I AM that is me." Is it possible? I say most emphatically yes, a thous and times yes, from my experiences, from your experiences and from the experienc es of many thousands of people around the world - it is not only possible, but c ertain. You can be remodeled and re-made. I have found this so. On my desk I have a little glass ball with tiny stars inside it ranging from the size of a pinhead to about two millimetres. One day I said to two of our senior employees "Do you see this very beautifully made glass ball?" I took out my pen and pointed to one of the very tiny stars and said "That is me in the universe. Can you remove me from it?" Both replied "No, because if the ball represents th e universe where would we put you?" I agreed. I said "You cannot remove me from the universe because this pin-point is the microcosm of God. And God cannot be r emoved because He cannot be removed from Himself." So I go further. I say to God "Old things, old states of consciousness, old beli efs, all limitations and restrictions, have passed away. I am now, not going to be, I am now Your presence fulfilled. This is Truth. It is so. I am now renewed. " But it is hard is it not, when you are confronted with problems, be they emotion al or physical or material, to remain firm. The intellect focuses on what it see s in front of it. It sees the darkness, the error, it feels the pain, is conscio us of the limitations, and so on. But we have been told throughout the ages to k eep our vision high. Paul instructed his flock "Have that mind in you that is in Jesus-Christ" - or have the Jesus-Christ consciousness. Do not judge by what yo u see, or what you feel, or taste, or hear. Lift the intellect up into the consc iousness of Love, which is part of you, even though you may not be aware of it. When I have a desire for some good thing I do not pray for it, I do not repeat a ffirmations. I listen, and I say to myself "How marvelous. This is a telegram fr om Mind to my intellect and is lodging in my emotional nature, my heart, advisin g me of what is coming to me." It stands in my mind as a picture, then it goes i nto my intellect, which reasons "If this is God speaking to me then it is alread y mine. How do I act the part of one who has already received it, that already i s it?" Nothing ever comes to you, even if it appears to come from South America or Timb uktu. Its origin is within you. You are the microcosm of the Universe. Everythin g comes from One Source. My part is to accept this with my whole being - mind, h eart, body and actions. Time does not come into it. If I have a rooted desire to

go to Cape Town on the Blue Train and then make a sea voyage up the coast to Du rban and finally return to Johannesburg by plane, I do not say to myself "How am I going to manage it?" Instead I say "It is already managed." I see myself goin g to the central railway station, the porter taking my baggage, my experience of the Blue Train, arriving at Cape Town station, being met by someone, catching a taxi to the docks, boarding the ship, going to my cabin, sailing up the coast a nd observing the beauty, going ashore, and finally going to the airport and catc hing the plane home. I live the entire experience - because God is timeless, it is already done. I think to myself "What a wonderful trip I have had." I am speaking factually about how things work in my life. This is how I live in consciousness. Nothing is made, nothing comes, everything is and, because it is, I too am. It is done. That is how it works - the way my trip is made manifest i s immaterial to me. God makes all things new, not in the future but in the timel ess present. No matter how small, how unimportant I appear to be, I am one with the whole Universal Presence - as are you. Never compromise in matters of faith. Let me give you just one tangible example from my own experience. 34 years ago I developed a passion to have a Chrysler Ne w Yorker, a two-seater. A man whom I had helped got in touch with a car dealer h e knew who asked him "How can I help this man?" "He wants a Chrysler New Yorker. It must be a two-seater." You could not get them for love or money in South Afr ica. The dealer predictably told him "But you cannot get them here." My acquaint ance said "Well, this man never compromises. Keep that in mind." A week later th e dealer contacted me to say that a very similar car, also very difficult to obt ain, had come in - a Windsor. I thanked him most politely, said that it was very kind of him to phone me, but I did not want a Windsor, I wanted a Chrysler New Yorker, a black one. "But you cannot get them" he responded. I said "Thank you v ery much." Some time later the phone rang and he asked me to come to his showroo m. I went and was taken to the rear of the display area. There was this big blac k car, still in its crate and covered with protective grease. "Is this what you want?" the dealer asked with a twinkle. "This is what I want." "Do you know how we got it?" he inquired. "No, but here it is." "Well, you see," he explained, "i t was ordered for our general manager's wife but during the waiting period she h ad another baby and now feels the car would be two small for her, so it was sent here for you." The car cost me, with the one I traded in, 300 pounds. I gave it to The School of Truth as a present. It is still as good as new. As I said, tha t was 34 years ago. Today you cannot buy a fender for 300 pounds. People compromise constantly "just in case it (God's law of faith) doesn't work. " It doesn't have to work - It has already worked. "The new has come," is not "g oing-to-come." People often say to me of my apparent achievements "But how can you do this? It is so hard to believe." "Well," I respond, "it may be hard to believe, but I did not make the Law. The Great Teacher told me in plain language 'If you believe t hat you receive it you shall have it. If you have faith the size of a grain of m ustard seed you shall say to this mountain (of difficulty) be thou removed and c ast into the depths of the sea'." A way to build belief is to pretend, or to act as if it were true, put on a face , encourage others to share belief or faith in God with me. If I show a face of poverty, and sickness, and unhappiness, that is the kind of face I will get refl ected back to me. "Poor old Nick" is what I will hear from others. I want to say with conviction "Rich young Nick." I want to get you all working with me. You m ay not know that you are working with me but "if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them." We are one. Nothing is being crea ted, but it must be set free. I am Rockerfeller, I am Mr. Universe, I am whatever I want to be. I live in this

consciousness. And whatever is within myself must out-picture, because my body is the reflection of my consciousness, of my I AM consciousness. You can do that . But if you ask for a Rolls Royce, but are prepared to compromise for a Mini-Mi nor, if you want to companion with less, that is what you will get. Practicing Truth does not demand your being hard-minded, single-visioned. Let me tell you now that simple acceptance, a child-like trust, is the highest path. G ood is a perfectly natural thing, not supernatural. Every desire in terms of goo d unfolds naturally to those who accept it, whose hearts and minds are filled wi th humility and trust. I know that I accepted good when I feel this spiritual up liftment, this inner feeling of peace and tranquility, even joy, within me. We do not have to make our spiritual approach to God difficult. We do not have t o make inwardly loud affirmations, clench our hands, stiffen our necks, trying a s it were to pull the good we need out of heaven. All we do is to harden ourselv es against the good. The whole universe, including you and me, is governed by na tural Law. "As below, so above" is natural Law. I am not conscious of my breathi ng - it goes on without any help from me. But the moment I become conscious of i t I disturb it. When I forget about it, it falls back into its natural rhythm. W hen I try to demonstrate, try to bring a thing to pass, I am living unnaturally. You can, for a few minutes daily, plug yourself into God, like a rechargeable b attery, and become tranquil, peaceful. Your worry complicates the problem. You d o not want the problem, the lack, you want your true desires fulfilled, and your desires are the very reflection of God's stirring within you. Simply accept the m and imperceptibly they unfold - because it is your Father's will for you. The Presence of God is changeless. Light is changeless, but man's consciousness is like the weather, up and down, stormy, full of fog. Man struggles to see his true self in his "dark mirror" - he looks into his own intellect with all its li mitations. But there is never anything wrong with God. It depends on us. Circums tances can never affect you unless you permit it. Nothing can be taken from you because nothing can be taken from God. In simple and utter trust keep your eye single to the light, the good, and your whole body - spirit, mind, heart and actions, your whole spiritual and material world - will be full of light, will be full of good.
