Projects : Mathematical formulation of the Kinematic (holonomic and nonholonomic constraints) and dynamic (Euler Lagrange) equations of motion of Skid Steered 12-wheeled mobile robot (designed for stair climbing), linearization of nonlinear feedback equations (by Lie algebra) of the dynamic system for its trajectory tracking control and finally simulation of the tracked path using SIMULINK (MATLAB 2009a). Guide: Dr. Indrajit Basak, Professor & Head of Dept., Mechanical Engineering Department, NIT Durgapur, India. Development of a motion planner program for Multi-Agent Systems focussing on collision avoidance by using a game theory based approach. A cost function from the time taken by robots (to reach their individual destinations) was used to create a payoff table on the basis of which the motion planning scheme was decided. Experiments were carried out on micro-robots (which are utilized in Soccer Robotics) and this

Game theory based Motion Planner was compared with those based on other approaches especially Neural networks, fuzzy logic and potential field based methods in terms of the degree of coordination, cooperation, robustness and minimum path tracking time of the Guide: Dr. N. B. Hui, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering Dept., NIT Durgapur Development of a simple (3 degrees of freedom) Serial manipulator capable of playing chess in real time against any opponent by implementation of adaptive control and image processing. A webcam mounted over the chess board was used to grab images and the open source frame work named Qt was used to develop a GUI for applying image processing techniques utilising the OpenCV image processing library. CATIA was used for designing and simulation. Guide: Dr. G. Sanyal, Professor & Head of Dept., Computer Science & Engineering Dept., NIT Durgapur

Industry Exposure : Summer Training in Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ltd.s Uran Plant (Maharashtra, India) which included the plant visit and study of the Gas Turbines manufactured by General Electric (GE) which is installed in their co-generation plant and is used for generating both power and steam. Currently working as Management Trainee (Technical) in Vizag Steel Plant which is and undertaking of Government of India with Rashitriya Ispat Nigam Ltd.(RINL) being its corporate entity. In my training in this integrated steel plant I came to know about the working of the main units like blast furnace, convertor, rolling mills and also witnessed how the various auxiliary units like gas cleaning plant, sintering plant, calcination and refractory material plant, provide the vital assistance for the plants continuous operation.
